Experience:
Diploma, certificate, or technical training in handicrafts, tailoring, sewing, embroidery, or other relevant vocational skills.
Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in providing practical skills training, preferably with women or vulnerable communities.
Experience working in humanitarian or community development programs will be an advantage.
Skills and Competencies
Strong practical skills in handicrafts production and demonstration techniques.
Ability to conduct interactive and participatory training sessions.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Sensitivity to cultural and gender issues when working with Rohingya women and girls.
Language
Fluency in Bangla required.
Knowledge of Chittagonian/Rohingya dialect will be considered an asset.
Job Context
Nari Maitree (NM), a women-led national NGO with over 42 years of experience in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment in Bangladesh, is implementing the project “Together We Lead: Placing Gender Equality at the Centre” in partnership with UN Women in Cox’s Bazar.
The Trainer – Handicrafts and Production will facilitate practical skill-building sessions for Rohingya women and adolescent girls at the MPWC. The position will support participants to develop handicraft and production skills that can contribute to livelihood opportunities, promote creativity, and strengthen women’s confidence and economic participation within the camp context.
Reports to: Livelihood Officer
Duty Station: Rohingya Camps, Ukhiya/Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.
Assignment Duration: Approx. 09 months
Key Responsibilities
Skills Training and Facilitation
Conduct practical training sessions on handicrafts and small-scale production activities for Rohingya women and girls at the MPWC.
Demonstrate techniques for producing handicraft items such as handmade products, sewing, embroidery, or other relevant crafts appropriate for the camp context.
Ensure training sessions are participatory, inclusive, and culturally appropriate.
Capacity Development
Support participants to develop technical skills in handicrafts production and product finishing.
Encourage creativity and introduce simple product design improvements suitable for available materials.
Promote teamwork, peer learning, and confidence-building among trainees.
Quality Assurance and Production Support
Guide participants in maintaining quality standards for handicraft products.
Provide coaching and practical support to improve participants’ skills and production techniques.
Monitoring and Documentation
Maintain training attendance registers and participant progress records.
Monitor trainees’ skill development and provide feedback for improvement.
Prepare basic activity reports and share updates with the Livelihood Officer.
Coordination and Support
Work closely with MPWC staff to ensure smooth implementation of training sessions.
Support the Livelihood Officer in linking skilled participants with appropriate livelihood or production opportunities where possible.
Safeguarding and Protection
Ensure that all activities are implemented in accordance with humanitarian principles and safeguarding policies.
Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for all participants.
