Technical Quality Controller – Garments
Role Overview:
Responsible for ensuring that garments meet defined technical specifications, quality standards, and buyer requirements throughout the production lifecycle. The role combines in-depth product knowledge, inspection expertise, and proactive problem-solving to maintain consistent quality from development to final shipment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Pre-Production Quality Assurance
Review tech packs, samples, and specifications before production
Verify measurements, construction details, trims, and workmanship standards
Identify potential quality risks and provide preventive solutions
Conduct pre-production (PP) meetings with production and merchandising teams
2. In-Line Quality Control
Perform regular in-line inspections during production
Monitor stitching quality, measurements, and workmanship
Identify defects early and implement corrective actions
Ensure adherence to approved samples and technical standards
3. Final Inspection (Pre-Shipment)
Conduct final random inspections based on AQL standards
Approve or reject finished goods based on defect levels
Ensure correct packing, labeling, and carton quality
Prepare final inspection reports for internal and buyer submission
4. Technical Evaluation & Problem Solving
Analyze recurring defects and implement root cause corrective actions
Work closely with production, pattern, and sewing teams to resolve issues
Ensure consistency in fit, measurement, and garment appearance
5. Compliance & Buyer Standards
Ensure products comply with buyer technical manuals and requirements
Maintain awareness of international standards (especially for European clients under European Union regulations)
Support factory audits and quality certifications
6. Measurement & Fit Control
Verify garment measurements against size charts and tolerances
Conduct measurement audits during production and before shipment
Ensure size consistency across production lots
7. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain inspection reports, defect analysis, and corrective action records
Provide daily/weekly quality reports to management
Track quality KPIs and improvement initiatives
8. Supplier & Production Coordination
Communicate quality requirements clearly to factory teams
Train line supervisors and operators on quality expectations
Ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs) are followed
Required Qualifications:
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Apparel Manufacturing, or related field
4–10+ years of experience in garments quality control/assurance
Strong knowledge of garment construction and inspection standards
Key Skills:
Strong understanding of defects, measurements, and workmanship standards
Knowledge of inspection systems (AQL, inline, final inspection)
Problem-solving and root cause analysis
Attention to detail and accuracy
Good communication and reporting skills
Preferred Experience:
Experience with export-oriented factories
Exposure to European/US buyers and compliance requirements
Familiarity with woven, knit, or denim product categories

First-pass quality approval rate
Shipment acceptance rate (AQL pass)
On-time inspection and reporting
