🔎 Job Summary
A Senior Garments Merchandiser is responsible for managing end-to-end garment orders, leading merchandising teams, and ensuring timely production and shipment while maintaining quality and profitability.
They serve as the primary contact between international buyers and the manufacturing unit, overseeing product development, costing, sourcing, production follow-up, and shipment execution.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
📦 Buyer & Order Management
Handle key buyer accounts independently
Review tech packs, specifications, and order details
Conduct order feasibility analysis
Negotiate pricing and finalize contracts
Maintain strong buyer relationships
🧵 Product Development & Sourcing
Supervise sample development (proto, fit, PP, TOP samples)
Source fabrics, trims, and accessories
Approve lab dips, strike-offs, and fabric quality
Coordinate with design and R&D teams
🏭 Production & Quality Control
Prepare Time & Action (T&A) calendar
Monitor production progress and resolve delays
Coordinate with planning, cutting, sewing, finishing, and QA teams
Ensure compliance with buyer quality standards
💰 Costing & Profitability
Prepare detailed garment costing sheets
Calculate fabric consumption and wastage
Monitor order margins and cost control
Negotiate with suppliers for best rates
🚢 Shipment & Documentation
Ensure timely shipment execution
Coordinate with logistics and commercial departments
Verify export documentation and compliance requirements
👥 Team Leadership
Supervise junior merchandisers
Train and guide team members
Allocate orders and monitor performance
🛠️ Required Skills & Qualifications
✔️ Education
Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Apparel Merchandising, Fashion Technology, or Business Administration
✔️ Experience
5–8+ years of experience in garment/apparel merchandising
Experience handling export buyers independently
✔️ Skills
Strong knowledge of garment production processes
Expertise in costing and consumption calculation
Excellent negotiation and communication skills
Strong leadership and team management ability
Advanced MS Excel and ERP knowledge
Problem-solving and decision-making skills
