A Master's or Bachelor degree in Renewable Energy, Sustainable Energy, Energy Systems, Climate Change, Environmental Engineering, or a related field will be considered an advantage.
Professional certification in solar PV design, installation, or energy management will be an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in renewable energy, clean energy, electrical engineering, or climate resilience projects.
Demonstrated experience in the design, installation, operation, or monitoring of renewable energy systems.
Experience working with NGOs, INGOs, government agencies, development partners, engineering firms, or consulting organizations is desirable.
Experience in community-based renewable energy projects and rural energy access initiatives is preferred.
Familiarity with donor-funded projects and technical reporting requirements is an advantage.

Job Purpose:
The Technical Officer – Renewable Energy will provide technical leadership and implementation support for Blue Planet Initiative (BPI)'s renewable energy, climate resilience, clean energy transition, and sustainable development programs. The position will support the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of renewable energy projects, conduct technical assessments, provide engineering guidance, and ensure compliance with national and international technical standards.
The Technical Officer will work closely with government agencies, development partners, research institutions, private sector actors, consultants, and local communities to promote decentralized renewable energy solutions, energy efficiency, and climate-smart technologies. The role will also contribute to research, policy advocacy, capacity building, and knowledge management to support Bangladesh's transition toward a low-carbon and resilient energy future.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Planning and Project Implementation
Provide technical leadership for the planning, design, implementation, and supervision of renewable energy projects.
Support the development and deployment of decentralized renewable energy systems including solar photovoltaic (PV), solar irrigation, mini-grids, rooftop solar, battery storage, and other clean energy technologies.
Prepare technical specifications, Bills of Quantities (BoQs), engineering designs, and implementation plans.
Review engineering drawings, equipment specifications, and technical documentation.
Ensure all technical activities comply with national regulations, engineering standards, and donor requirements.
2. Technical Assessments and Feasibility Studies
Conduct technical site assessments and renewable energy resource assessments.
Carry out feasibility studies for renewable energy installations in rural, urban, coastal, and climate-vulnerable areas.
Assess technical, environmental, social, and economic viability of proposed interventions.
Support energy demand assessments and load analysis for community and institutional facilities.
Prepare feasibility reports with technical recommendations and cost estimates.
3. Installation, Supervision, and Quality Assurance
Monitor installation, commissioning, and operation of renewable energy systems.
Supervise contractors, consultants, vendors, and installation teams.
Conduct quality assurance inspections to ensure compliance with engineering standards and project specifications.
Identify technical risks and recommend corrective actions.
Ensure adherence to occupational health, safety, and environmental safeguards during project implementation.
4. Monitoring, Data Collection, and Performance Evaluation
Develop and implement technical monitoring plans for renewable energy systems.
Monitor system performance, energy generation, equipment efficiency, and operational reliability.
Collect, analyze, and interpret technical and project performance data.
Maintain technical databases and project records.
Prepare technical progress reports and performance analyses for management and donors.
5. Research, Innovation, and Policy Support
Conduct research on renewable energy technologies, energy access, energy efficiency, climate adaptation, and low-carbon development.
Analyze national renewable energy policies, regulations, and investment opportunities.
Prepare technical briefs, policy papers, research reports, and knowledge products.
Contribute technical evidence to BPI's advocacy initiatives on renewable energy, energy justice, and climate resilience.
Track emerging technologies and international best practices relevant to Bangladesh.
6. Capacity Building and Knowledge Sharing
Design and facilitate technical training programs for project staff, government officials, local communities, and partner organizations.
Develop technical manuals, operation and maintenance guidelines, and training materials.
Organize workshops, seminars, demonstrations, and awareness campaigns on renewable energy technologies.
Provide technical mentoring and support to field teams.
7. Stakeholder Coordination
Coordinate with government agencies, utilities, technical institutions, universities, development partners, consultants, and private sector organizations.
Participate in technical working groups, coordination meetings, and policy dialogues.
Support partnerships for research, innovation, pilot projects, and technology transfer.
8. Procurement and Technical Review
Prepare technical specifications for procurement of renewable energy equipment.
Participate in technical evaluation of bids and supplier selection.
Review vendor proposals and verify compliance with technical requirements.
Inspect delivered equipment and certify technical acceptance.
9. Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL)
Support project monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities.
Contribute technical indicators to project log frames and results frameworks.
Assist in baseline, mid-term, and end-line evaluations.
Document lessons learned, case studies, and good practices.
10. Reporting and Documentation
Prepare high-quality technical reports, engineering documentation, project updates, and donor reports.
Maintain accurate records of technical activities, field visits, inspections, and monitoring results.
Contribute technical inputs to organizational publications, annual reports, and communication materials.
