  • Experience working with NGOs, INGOs, government agencies, or donor-funded projects is preferred.

  • Experience coordinating field activities and community engagement initiatives will be an advantage.

Responsibilities & Context:
  • Reports To: Program Officer

  • Duty Station: Dhaka, with frequent travel to project locations throughout Bangladesh

  • Project Duration: 12 months (May be extended)

Job Purpose:

The Assistant Program Officer will support the planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring, documentation, and reporting of Blue Planet Initiative (BPI)'s programs and projects in renewable energy, climate resilience, environmental conservation, biodiversity, water governance, sustainable livelihoods, and community development.

Working under the supervision of the Program Officer, the Assistant Program Officer will provide operational and technical support to ensure the timely and effective delivery of project activities. The position will coordinate field implementation, facilitate stakeholder engagement, support monitoring and evaluation, maintain project documentation, and contribute to high-quality reporting and knowledge management. The role requires frequent collaboration with local communities, government agencies, development partners, consultants, and civil society organizations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Program Planning and Implementation

  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and coordination of project activities in accordance with approved work plans, budgets, and donor requirements.

  • Support the implementation of renewable energy, climate adaptation, environmental conservation, water governance, biodiversity, and community resilience initiatives.

  • Coordinate day-to-day project activities with field teams, consultants, implementing partners, and community organizations.

  • Monitor activity schedules and ensure timely implementation of planned outputs.

  • Support preparation of annual, quarterly, and monthly work plans.

2. Field Coordination and Community Engagement

  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor project implementation and provide technical and operational support.

  • Coordinate with local government institutions, community-based organizations, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders.

  • Facilitate community consultations, focus group discussions, participatory planning sessions, and stakeholder meetings.

  • Support beneficiary identification, mobilization, and community participation.

  • Document field observations, lessons learned, and best practices.

3. Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL)

  • Assist in collecting quantitative and qualitative project data using approved monitoring tools.

  • Support baseline surveys, needs assessments, progress monitoring, end-line surveys, and project evaluations.

  • Maintain project databases and monitoring records.

  • Verify project outputs and maintain supporting documentation.

  • Assist in analyzing monitoring data and preparing summary reports.

  • Contribute to organizational learning by documenting project achievements, challenges, and recommendations.

4. Reporting and Documentation

  • Prepare activity reports, field visit reports, meeting minutes, case studies, success stories, and monthly progress reports.

  • Assist in preparing donor reports and organizational reporting requirements.

  • Maintain organized project files, records, photographs, attendance sheets, and supporting documents.

  • Support preparation of presentations, concept notes, briefing materials, and communication products.

  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of project activities.

5. Training, Workshops, and Events

  • Organize workshops, training sessions, consultations, awareness campaigns, seminars, conferences, and community events.

  • Coordinate venue arrangements, participant communication, logistics, travel, accommodation, and event documentation.

  • Prepare training materials, attendance records, workshop reports, and evaluation summaries.

  • Support facilitation of community awareness and capacity-building initiatives.

6. Stakeholder Coordination

  • Maintain effective communication with government agencies, development partners, NGOs, research institutions, consultants, and local authorities.

  • Support coordination meetings with project partners and consortium members.

  • Assist in building partnerships that strengthen project implementation and sustainability.

  • Facilitate communication between field teams and the central office.

7. Financial and Administrative Support

  • Assist in preparing procurement requests, purchase documentation, and logistical arrangements.

  • Support budget tracking and activity expenditure monitoring.

  • Verify supporting documents for project expenditures.

  • Coordinate procurement, travel, inventory, and administrative documentation in accordance with organizational policies.

  • Ensure compliance with financial and administrative procedures.

8. Knowledge Management and Communications

  • Maintain project databases, contact lists, and document repositories.

  • Support development of newsletters, brochures, fact sheets, social media content, and communication materials.

  • Contribute to organizational knowledge management by documenting innovations, lessons learned, and project impacts.

  • Assist in maintaining photo and multimedia documentation of project activities.

9. Research and Policy Support

  • Assist in conducting background research on renewable energy, climate change, environmental governance, biodiversity conservation, water management, and sustainable development.

  • Compile technical information, policy updates, and research findings.

  • Support preparation of policy briefs, discussion papers, and advocacy materials.

  • Assist the Program Officer in organizing policy dialogues and consultation meetings.

10. Other Responsibilities

  • Perform additional programmatic and operational assignments as delegated by the Program Manager or senior management.

  • Support organizational events, campaigns, emergency response activities, and special initiatives.

  • Represent BPI in meetings, workshops, and field activities as assigned.
