Experience:
Master’s degree in Anthropology, Development Studies, Environmental Science, Sociology, Public Administration, or related Social Science disciplines.

Minimum 3 to 5 years of practical experience in designing and facilitating training programs within civil society or development organizations
Proven experience in grassroots capacity building, local governance engagement, climate justice, land rights, or community-based resource management.
Demonstrated track record of working collaboratively with local CSOs, CBOs, and community leadership structures.
Ability to lead participatory training sessions independently, fostering an engaging, inclusive environment for diverse groups.

Uttaran is inviting applications for the vacant position titled Training Officer – for Uttaran under the project Empowering Civil Society for Climate Justice and Environment Protection. This position will coordinate and lead the execution of the project’s overarching capacity development strategy of local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), Environmental Human Rights Defenders (EHRDs), and Local Government Institutions (LGIs).

Key Responsibilities
Main Duties:
Conducting participatory Training Needs Assessments (TNAs) across partner CSOs and grassroots groups.
Designing, contextualizing, and evaluating training curriculum, toolkits, and learning materials on climate resilience, land rights, Climate Justice, and Social Accountability Tools (SAT).
Facilitating interactive workshops, learning sessions, and skill-building events for local CSOs, frontline climate activists, and local government officials (Union Parishads and line departments).
Organizing public dialogues, mass awareness events, youth mobilization initiatives, and issue-based campaign platforms to strengthen community-led climate action.
Tracking training effectiveness through pre/post-assessments and preparing technical quality reports for consortium partners.
Capacity Assessment & Program Design
Conduct systematic capacity gaps and training needs analyses across partner CSOs, CSGs, and grassroots networks.
Contextualize and adapt modules, advocacy strategies, and toolkits (such as the EHRD toolkit and SAT frameworks) to fit local coastal dynamics.
Facilitation & Field Implementation
Facilitate interactive training workshops on land rights, water resource governance, climate adaptation planning, and social accountability mechanisms.
Support Union Parishads and Upazila-level line departments in integrating participatory, climate-resilient planning into their annual development budgets.
Coordinate field-level learning exchanges, peer-to-peer visits, and action-oriented workshops for local CSOs and EHRDs.
Mobilization & Campaign Support
Mobilize local youth networks, environmental defenders, and community groups to actively participate in climate justice campaigns and public dialogues.
Organize local-level civic forums, issue-based discussions, and solidarity events to raise awareness on climate displacement and community rights.
Monitoring, Reporting, & Documentation
Monitor and evaluate the progress of trained actors, measuring shifts in institutional capacity and local governance participation.
Maintain accurate records of all capacity-building activities and draft clear, analytical event reports.
Document field success stories, case studies, and practical lessons learned to inform wider project learning and consortium updates.
Safeguarding and Compliance
Ensure compliance with Uttaran's Code of Conduct, Safeguarding, PSEA, Child Protection, Gender Equality, Anti-Fraud, and organizational policies.
Promote accountability to affected populations (AAP) in all project interventions.
Ensure ethical conduct and confidentiality while working with vulnerable communities.
