Additional Requirements:
∎ The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience with proven expertise in livelihood, disaster management, and climate change. Key responsibilities include coordinating all program activities within an upazila, establishing and coordinating civil society organizations (CSOs), and conducting regular visits to CSOs and secondary schools. The Technical Officer will also be responsible for organizing training activities for the target groups, facilitating dialogue meetings between civil society and government agencies, and coordinating climate-resilient innovative initiatives, coordination of rapid response as well as support mechanism and reporting on it. Additional duties include communication with government agencies and service providers, managing and monitoring program staff. Priorities will be given to suitable candidates those who are born and grown up in coastal region and experiences working in EU funded projects.
∎ Candidates must have proven experience in program planning, budgeting, financial management, staff management, and report writing, along with monitoring and evaluation skills. A clear understanding of human rights, climate change, environmental degradation, climate induced human rights violation, gender human rights violation and human rights-based project dynamics is essential. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant tools is required. Experience in networking, collaborating with union/upazila/district administrations and national networks is necessary. Candidates must possess a valid motorbike driving license. The candidate should be willing to stay at the upazila level with frequent visits to remote areas and have a solid knowledge of safe grading (Child Protection, Gender, & Anti-Sexual Harassment). ∎ Bangladesh Resource Center for Indigenous Knowledge (BARCIK) is a non-governmental, non-profit development organization. Founded in 1997 by a group of development practitioners, researchers, and social workers, BARCIK has been dedicated to advancing environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation, resilience, justice, and food security since its inception.
∎ BARCIK is currently seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Technical Officer especially for training and advocacy for its project titled ‘Environmental Human Rights for a Just Transition: Strengthened Local CSOs Transforming Climate Hotspots into Resilient Communities (ENGAGE). This project will be implemented in the Shyamnagar and Assasuni upazilas of Satkhira district and Koyra and Paikgacha upazilas of Khulna district. The project is financially supported by the European Union (EU) and led by NETZ Bangladesh. Position will be available from 1 April 2025 to 31 December 2028.
∎ Job Nature: Full-time (up to project period based on performance)
