Job Responsibilities:
∎ Good Technical knowledge of Knit and Woven fabric production, dyeing/printing and finishing processes.
∎ Good knowledge of sustainability and traceability processes.
∎ Checking and analyzing fabric test results, managing corrective actions and advises for further improvement.
∎ Experienced on creating and developing fabric library.
∎ Review and manage fabric and applicable garment testing / inspection reports and where appropriate make decisions on commercial acceptability.
∎ Set out targets and deadlines for garment testing / inspection reports.
∎ Audit the potential mills/spinners/dye houses prior to approval as preferred fabric/yarn suppliers.
∎ Carry out annual mill evaluations to assess and manage preferred fabric mills' capabilities and expertise.
∎ Guide and recommend improvement plans to the fabric mills to ensure they continue to meet requirements.
∎ Attend Risk Analysis and Fabric Handover meetings (for critical/new/high volume programs), follow through on actions discussed. Advise on wash-care instructions when requested.
∎ Act as the main communication channel between Fabric Sourcing and the preferred raw material supply base regarding product standards, fabric development testing and potential quality issues.
∎ Manage the fabric supply base by providing advice on improvement when required.
∎ Control and monitor first bulk production of all new fabrics (or existing fabrics with new mills), to ensure the standards signed off during the development are maintained in production.
∎ Review and approve all first bulk submissions for color, hand-feel and appearance. Review all bulk fabric shade bands. Advise on garment wash shade bands if necessary.
∎ Working closely with the QA Team to ensure agreed fabric standards and performance levels are fully understood and applied during production.
∎ Work closely with Suppliers and Merchandising teams towards resolution and timely decision making.
∎ Manage production problems related to fabric. Conduct dialogue between preferred mills and Garment Suppliers that relate to fabric failure, facilitate, mediate and follow through on claims.
∎ Manage the accuracy of fabric quality information carried forward to preferred mill scorecards.
∎ Advise on technical issues relating to trims and components, wash and embellishment, and accessories.
∎ Maintain close contact with the approved 3rd party accredited labs and their representatives.
∎ Establish and maintain close working relationships with market leaders in the field of dyes/textile chemicals in order to promote constant improvement.
∎ Travel as required to fabric mills, garment vendors and their processing units.
∎ Assess and evaluate work and provides guidance and supervision to Technical/Sr. Technical Specialists (Fabric).
∎ Coach and mentor the Technical/Sr. Technical Specialists (Fabric) with regards to Customers’ requirements, processes, tolerances and commercial acceptability.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 30 years
∎ Only males are allowed to apply
∎ Preferably experienced working with garments industry
∎ Must have excellent knowledge in garments and fabric construction, shading, weaving defects, etc.
∎ Must be able to work out consumptions of garments based on tech packs, provide remedial advice on detected discrepancies with regard to workmanship.
∎ Strong negotiation, analytical, problem-solving skills and time management skills.
∎ Familiar with laboratory test requirements and testing procedures.
∎ High levels of integrity
