The Technical Assistant – Energy supports the operation, maintenance, and repair of solar photovoltaic systems, solar streetlights, and related energy infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted and safe energy services within camp settings. The role contributes to system reliability, environmental compliance, and community engagement under the guidance of the Senior/Technical Officer – Energy.
• Install, inspect, maintain, and repair on-grid and off-grid solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and solar streetlights (SSLs), ensuring proper functioning of panels, controllers, inverters, batteries, wiring, and associated components.
• Diagnose system faults, conduct troubleshooting, and implement corrective actions or component replacements to ensure technical reliability and operational efficiency of energy systems.
• Support basic PV system design and load assessment in line with approved technical standards and local regulations, and supervise field-level maintenance operations to ensure quality implementation.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation related to installation, maintenance, repairs, and system performance, and provide regular technical updates to the line manager.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and community members to facilitate smooth maintenance activities, promote community awareness, and support sustainability of energy assets.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, safeguarding policies, and organizational codes of conduct during all installation, maintenance, and field activities.
• Perform any other relevant duties as assigned in response to project and operational needs.
• Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
