Experience:

Preferred Master`s Degree in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Public Health, Nutrition & Food Science, or any other relevant fields.
Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in:
Gender mainstreaming and women’s empowerment programming
Conducting gender analysis, assessments, or studies in development projects
Livelihood, nutrition-sensitive, fisheries, or rural development programs
Community mobilization and field-based programming
Designing, analyzing, and reporting on gender-responsive interventions
Core Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of gender equality, women’s empowerment, and social inclusion (GESI) concepts
Practical experience in gender analysis, data collection, analysis, and reporting
Ability to integrate gender considerations into livelihood, livestock, nutrition, and fisheries interventions
Strong facilitation, training, and communication skills in Bangla and English
Experience in developing gender-sensitive tools, guidelines, and action plans
Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret sex- and age-disaggregated data
Case study documentation and report-writing skills
Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, adaptability, and problem-solving ability in field settings

Location: Cox’s Bazar (Five Upazilas: Cox’s Bazar Sadar, Ukhiya, Teknaf, Maheshkhali, and Kutubdia)

The Fisheries Livelihood Enhancement Project (FiLEP) is implemented by the Department of Fisheries (DoF) with technical and financial support from JICA, aiming to enhance the resilience and livelihood security of artisanal fishing communities in Cox’s Bazar. The Livelihood and Nutrition Component (FiLEP-LNC), implemented by Nature Conservation Management (NACOM), NewVision Solution Limited (NVSL), and Mukti Cox’s Bazar, targets 1,500 fisher households with a focus on: Livelihood diversification, Nutrition-sensitive interventions, Women’s empowerment, and strengthened compliance with marine conservation measures
Within this framework, gender equality and women’s empowerment are critical cross-cutting priorities to ensure equitable access to project benefits and sustainable livelihood and nutrition outcomes. The Gender Officer will be responsible for mainstreaming gender and social inclusion across all FiLEP-LNC interventions, with particular attention to women’s participation in livelihood diversification, livestock- and fisheries-related AIGAs, including other trades, household nutrition, and decision-making processes. The position will support gender-responsive planning, implementation, monitoring, analysis, and learning to enhance women’s economic empowerment and household resilience.
Key Responsibilities
Mainstream gender and women’s empowerment across livelihoods, fisheries, and nutrition programs.
Conduct gender analyses and assessments to identify needs, barriers, and opportunities.
Design and implement gender- and nutrition-responsive strategies.
Promote women’s participation, leadership, and decision-making in economic and community activities.
Support safe and culturally appropriate engagement of women in AIGAs.
Integrate gender in nutrition programming: maternal, child, adolescent nutrition, breastfeeding, dietary diversity, and hygiene.
Facilitate nutrition counseling, advocacy, and awareness to empower women in household decisions.
Mobilize communities on gender equality, nutrition, and food security.
Build the capacity of staff, volunteers, partners, and beneficiaries on gender, GESI, safeguarding, and nutrition-sensitive practices.
Integrate gender- and nutrition-sensitive indicators into M&E frameworks.
Collect, analyze, and report sex- and age-disaggregated data.
Assess impacts on income, nutrition, workload, resources, decision-making, and resilience.
Track progress, identify gaps, and recommend improvements in gender and nutrition outcomes.
Document case studies, success stories, lessons learned, and reports.
Implement gender-responsive safeguarding, protection, and PSEAH prevention.
Ensure safe spaces and strengthen accountability for gender-based concerns.
Coordinate with government, NGOs, women’s groups, and community leaders.
Support technical teams in integrating gender and nutrition considerations.
Participate in planning, training, field reviews, and coordination forums.
Perform other tasks assigned by supervisor, aligned with project objectives.
Salary Range: BDT 60,000 - 65,748 (Negotiable based on experience)
