Responsibilities & Context:

Report To: Livelihood Officer / Project Coordinator
Location: Cox’s Bazar (Five Upazilas: Cox’s Bazar Sadar, Ukhiya, Teknaf, Maheshkhali, and Kutubdia)
Duration: 12-14 months

The Fisheries Livelihood Enhancement Project (FiLEP) is implemented by the Department of Fisheries (DoF) with technical and financial support from JICA, aiming to enhance the resilience and livelihood security of artisanal fishing communities in Cox’s Bazar. The Livelihood and Nutrition Component (FiLEP-LNC), implemented by Nature Conservation Management (NACOM), NewVision Solution Limited (NVSL), and Mukti Cox’s Bazar, targets 1,500 fisher households with a focus on: Livelihood diversification, Nutrition-sensitive interventions, Women’s empowerment, and Strengthened compliance with marine conservation measures

Within this framework, the Assistant Livelihood Officer (Livestock) will support livestock-based Alternative Income Generating Activities (AIGAs) to improve household income, nutrition, and resilience. The position will provide technical livestock support to fisher households under FiLEP-LNC, ensuring quality implementation of livestock-based AIGAs, strengthening nutrition outcomes, improving household income, and linking communities with relevant government livestock services.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and training on small-scale livestock systems. Focus on chicken, duck, and goat rearing for fisher households.

  • Support the design and implementation of livestock-based AIGAs. Ensure alignment with FiLEP-LNC objectives.

  • Assess household AIGA and livestock needs. Provide inputs based on identified requirements.

  • Deliver need-based technical training on improved chicken, duck, and goat rearing practices.

  • Facilitate small-scale, household-based feed formulation. Provide hands-on practical training.

  • Support nutrition-sensitive livestock interventions. Improve dietary diversity and protein intake.

  • Conduct regular field visits. Monitor livestock health, housing, feeding, and productivity. Track trade performance.

  • Ensure vaccination coverage in selected communities. Provide technical support to Livestock Service Providers (LSPs).

  • Build and maintain strong linkages. Connect communities, LSPs, and the Upazila-level DLS (GoB).

  • Follow up regularly on supported AIGA trades. Ensure quality implementation and sustainability.

  • Promote women’s participation and empowerment in livestock-based livelihoods.

  • Identify risks related to disease, climate stress, and markets. Propose practical mitigation measures.

  • Collect regular livestock and livelihood data. Include income status, documentation, and case stories.

  • Support Field Facilitators and Community Volunteers. Assist with data collection, monitoring, and reporting.

  • Assist relevant project staff as required. Support overall program activities.

  • Maintain strong coordination with local stakeholders. Engage Union Parishad and relevant government departments.

  • Perform other tasks assigned by supervisors. Ensure alignment with project objectives.



Job Other Benifits:

    Salary Range: BDT 45,000 – 50,000 (Negotiable based on experience)
