Location: Cox’s Bazar (Cox’s Bazar Sadar, Ukhiya, Teknaf, Maheshkhali, and Kutubdia)
Duration: 12–14 months
The Fisheries Livelihood Enhancement Project (FiLEP) is implemented by the Department of Fisheries (DoF) with technical and financial support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The project aims to enhance the resilience, livelihood security, and well-being of artisanal fishing communities in Cox’s Bazar through diversified and sustainable livelihood opportunities, nutrition improvement, women’s empowerment, and strengthened compliance with marine conservation measures. Under FiLEP, the Livelihood and Nutrition Component (FiLEP-LNC) is implemented by Nature Conservation Management (NACOM), NewVision Solution Limited (NVSL), and Mukti Cox’s Bazar, targeting approximately 1,500 fisher households across selected upazilas.
Within this framework, the Assistant Livelihood Officer (Agriculture) will support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of agriculture-based and diversified Alternative Income Generating Activities (AIGAs), with particular emphasis on homestead gardening, crop diversification, climate-smart and nutrition-sensitive agriculture, and women’s participation. The role will contribute to improving household income, food and nutrition security, and resilience, while strengthening linkages with relevant government service providers and community institutions to ensure sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical support for agriculture-based and diversified livelihoods under FiLEP-LNC, including homestead gardening, crop diversification, nutrition-sensitive agriculture, and climate-smart practices.
Identify, plan, and implement agriculture-based and non-farm Alternative Income Generating Activities (AIGAs) through household needs assessments and demand-driven input support for fishers and vulnerable households.
Deliver need-based technical training at household and community levels in response to identified gaps and community demand.
Support vegetable seed distribution for homestead gardening and promote climate-smart technologies.
Facilitate the establishment and scale-up of vermi-composting and organic fertilizer technologies through community capacity building.
Conduct regular follow-up and monitoring visits to ensure quality implementation, sustainability, and effective utilization of livelihood support.
Collect, compile, and manage field-level data on supported trades; support Field Facilitators and Community Volunteers in data collection, documentation, record keeping, and beneficiary tracking.
Support monthly and ad hoc MEAL data collection for Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning.
Coordinate and collaborate with project staff, including Livelihood, Nutrition, Fisheries, MEAL, and Project Management teams, to ensure effective implementation.
Maintain strong coordination and liaison with local government and line departments to facilitate beneficiary access to government services.
Ensure inclusive community mobilization and participation, prioritizing women, poor, and vulnerable households through participatory and culturally appropriate approaches.
Contribute to case studies, success stories, and field learning documentation for project learning and reporting.
Perform additional duties as assigned in alignment with project objectives.
Salary Range: BDT 45,000 – 50,000 (All Inclusive, Negotiable based on experience)
