Minimum 10–15 years’ experience in sample development, with at least 5+ years in a senior managerial role in a reputed garments factory.
Job Context:
This Position plays a crucial role in bridging buyers’ product requirements with production feasibility; To leading the entire sample development process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and quality of all sample submissions to buyers. The role requires strong technical knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, trims, and wash effects, as well as excellent communication skills to coordinate with buyers, merchandising, design, and production teams.
to supervise and guide the sample team, implement best practices to improve efficiency, minimize sampling cost and lead time, and maintain strict compliance with buyer requirements. The position also ensures alignment between the sampling process and bulk production to secure buyer approvals and smooth order execution.
Job Responsibilities:
Sample Development & Approval
o Oversee the entire sample development process from design concept to final buyer approval.
o Ensure samples (proto, fit, PP, size set, seal samples, etc.) are prepared as per buyer specifications and delivered within deadlines.
o Validate garment construction, fit, fabric, trims, wash, and finishing before submission to buyers.
Team Leadership & Management
o Lead, supervise, and train the sample room team (pattern masters, sample operators, QC, CAD operators).
o Allocate workload efficiently among team members to ensure productivity and timely delivery.
o Motivate the team to maintain high-quality workmanship and efficiency.
Buyer Communication & Coordination
o Work closely with buyers, merchandising, and design teams to clarify technical requirements and styling details.
o Attend buyer meetings and presentations to understand expectations and resolve technical queries.
o Provide professional feedback to buyers regarding feasibility, cost, and production capability.
Technical & Quality Assurance
o Check patterns, grading, and marker efficiency for accuracy and consumption.
o Ensure correct fabric, trims, and accessories are used in sample preparation.
o Implement strict quality control measures in the sample room to avoid rejection.
Process & Efficiency Management
o Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the sample section.
o Monitor lead time and identify opportunities to reduce sample development costs.
o Introduce lean techniques and digital sampling (CLO-3D, CAD systems) to optimize efficiency.
Production Support & Alignment
o Ensure bulk production feasibility is verified during sample development.
o Provide technical guidance to production teams based on approved samples.
o Support pre-production meetings to align sample approval with bulk requirements.
Reporting & Documentation
o Maintain records of sample submissions, approvals, and buyer comments.
o Prepare weekly/monthly reports on sample status, lead time, and rejection analysis for management.
o Highlight potential risks or delays in sample approval to top management.
Continuous Improvement
o Monitor market trends, new fabric technology, and sample development innovations.
o Implement best practices to enhance sample accuracy and reduce development cycle time.
o Conduct regular training sessions for staff on technical and buyer requirements.
