Educational Requirements:

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Expand, develop, coordinate and manage NRC's shelter projects in regions.
∎ Liaison and collaborate with relevant local and national authorities and stakeholders and represent NRC in relevant forums, cluster, working groups.
∎ Follow up on compliance with contractual commitments within shelter programme; ensure high technical quality and synergies in project implementation in regions.
∎ Assess the areas of operation regarding construction in cooperation with national and local authorities and in close collaboration with the Shelter programme manager.
∎ Develop/ensure procedures for the implementation of the construction programme in accordance with NRC principles and ways of working
∎ Exchange on a regular basis ideas/information with shelter Programme manager.
∎ Ensure that constructions are in accordance with norms and standards.
∎ Provide specific technical support and capacity building towards project staff
Additional Requirements:
∎ Experience in a relevant position preferable within a humanitarian/recovery context
∎ Experience with field level coordination with UN organisations, INGOs, Donors and authorities
∎ 3 years' experience in a senior level construction project implementation position in Bangladesh
∎ Prior experience in construction and community based projects.
∎ Experience with Urban shelter standards/ international standards code for building and rural building projects using basic material
∎ Fluency in Bangla and English (Chittagonian/Rohingyan preferred)
∎ Auto CAD (2D,3D) knowledge.

∎ Business : An estimated 905,000 Rohingya refugees currently reside in Cox`s Bazar, Bangladesh, over 700,000 of whom fled extreme violence in Myanmar in late 2017. They reside in refugee camps, which are among the most congested camps in the world, with limited access to basic services, including adequate sanitation, healthcare, livelihoods and education.
The refugees have put an immense strain on the Bangladeshi`s living in Cox`s Bazar, however, despite the challenges, the Bangladeshi communities were the first to respond when the Rohingya arrived and generously continue to host the refugees, and many of the local communities are now also in need of support.
NRC has been present in Bangladesh since 2016, working through partnerships with local NGO`s. We have since scaled up our presence in Bangladesh, obtaining legal registration in November 2018, allowing us to better respond to the Rohingya influx. Alongside our partners, we provide assistance to refugees and local communities through Education programming and Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) activities.
