Experience:

• An MBBS degree from a recognized medical institution with valid BMDC registration with 2 years postgraduate training or diplomas on Medicine/Surgery/Obs & Gynae/Pediatrics.

• Valid registration with the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC).

• Additional training in primary healthcare, emergency medicine, public health, family medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, or humanitarian health will be an advantage.

Experience – Essential

• Minimum 4 years of relevant clinical experience after completion of internship.

• Experience in providing clinical care in a hospital, clinic, Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC), or other relevant healthcare setting.

• Demonstrated experience in patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, emergency management, and referral.

• Experience in managing common communicable and non-communicable diseases.

• Experience in clinical documentation, patient record management, and health reporting.

• Experience in providing clinical guidance, mentoring, or technical support to junior healthcare staff.

Desirable

• Previous experience working in a PHCC, hospital, Field Hospital, clinic, or humanitarian health programme.

• Experience working with NGOs, INGOs, or humanitarian organizations.

• Previous experience in the Rohingya Response or other humanitarian settings.

• Experience in emergency care and stabilization.

• Experience in disease surveillance or outbreak response.

• Experience working in a multidisciplinary and multicultural healthcare team.

• Experience in clinical quality improvement and patient safety activities.

• Previous experience supervising or mentoring Medical Officers or other healthcare staff.

Working Conditions

• The position will be based at a Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC) in the Rohingya Response, Cox’s Bazar.

• The role involves working in a challenging and fast-paced humanitarian healthcare environment.

• The position holder will provide direct clinical services and day-to-day technical support to other healthcare personnel.

• The position may involve working on a roster, shift basis, weekends, public holidays, or emergency duty depending on operational requirements.

• The position holder may be required to support service delivery during disease outbreaks, natural disasters, fires, mass casualty incidents, or other humanitarian emergencies.

Position Summary

The Senior Medical Officer (Sr. Medical Officer) will be responsible for providing safe, high-quality, timely, and patient-centred medical care at the Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC) in the Rohingya Response, Cox’s Bazar.

The position holder will provide clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, emergency management, stabilization, referral, and follow-up of patients in accordance with approved national guidelines, Health Sector standards, organizational protocols, and professional medical ethics.

The Senior Medical Officer will also provide day-to-day clinical guidance and technical support to Medical Officers and other assigned healthcare personnel. The position holder will support clinical quality assurance, patient safety, Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), clinical documentation, disease surveillance, referral systems, emergency preparedness, and continuity of care.

The Sr. Medical Officer will work closely with the Clinical Coordinator/Clinical In-Charge, Medical Officers, Senior Staff Nurses, Staff Nurses, Midwife Lead, Midwives, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Nutrition, MHPSS, Community Health, MEAL, and other relevant teams to ensure integrated and comprehensive primary healthcare services.

• Monthly Gross Salary: Negotiable

• Bonus and other benefits: 10% of the monthly gross salary.
