Educational Requirements:
∎ Enrolled as an Advocate.
∎ Completed LL.B (Hon’s) LL.M from a reputed University.

Job Context:
∎ The senior Legal Officer will be responsible for legal activities (legal counseling, mediation, awareness, litigation and documentation) of projects in the host community in Cox’s Bazar.
∎ Contract Duration : Till February 2024
∎ Line Manager : Protection Manager
∎ Workstation : Ukhiya Office
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Provide guidance legal counseling regarding all legal matters/issues to the beneficiaries and follow up.
∎ Provide guidance mediation sessions for dispute resolution among the host community people and follow-up.
∎ Provide technical and management support awareness sessions within the host community.
∎ The senior legal officer will supervise the legal officers. Ensure all support for the legal officers.
∎ Represent to the police stations to file GD/FIR/Complaint.
∎ Undertake the responsibilities in the absence of any legal officer.
∎ Check and maintain files and registers regarding cases as per guidelines. Ensure the scrutinization of the location-based documentation regularly.
∎ Maintain regular contact with legal officers. Appear before the court as required.
∎ Prepare monthly/quarterly/half yearly/yearly legal statements/reports regarding received cases, mediation, litigation, and case studies as per guidelines.
∎ Conduct/organize/attend meetings, workshops, seminars and training courses.
∎ Perform all other duties as and when required by the authority.
∎ S/he will perform all regular duties under the supervision of the Legal Manager but will contact with technical resource persons when need technical support.
∎ Manages case files, ensuring that summaries are properly prepared and updated, litigation files are properly and securely maintained, and records and documents needed for litigation are collected and organized.
∎ Documents and verifies expenses.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 18 to 60 years
∎ At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in humanitarian response with one year of supervisory Role in legal department.
∎ Thorough understanding of legal assistance and drafting of GD/FIR/Complaint, litigation files, and proper maintenance of all legal records.
∎ Experience in dealing with clients/beneficiaries, specially GBV survivors.
∎ Experience in managing case documents properly.
∎ Good skill in speaking/reading/writing in Bangla and English. Efficient communication knowledge in Chittagong local language.
∎ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
∎ Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
∎ Basic understanding of court and administrative proceedings and documentation.
∎ Superior proficiency in administrative tasks.
∎ Ability to work independently, as well as a member of a team, and to be flexible to accommodate the needs of stakeholders.
∎ Proficiency in local language.
