Job Summary: China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. Bangladesh Branch is seeking a Senior Architect for the Maldives project site to lead and coordinate architectural design development, detailed design, construction documentation and site coordination for complex residential, mixed-use, commercial, and hospitality projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring design quality, technical accuracy, multidisciplinary coordination and timely delivery throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:
Architectural Design & Technical Development:
Lead architectural design development from concept through detailed design and construction documentation;
Develop and review comprehensive architectural construction drawings, details, specifications and technical documentation;
Ensure architectural solutions are practical, technically sound and compliant with applicable building codes, fire-safety requirements and project standards;
Develop technical details for complex interior and exterior architectural elements, including interfaces, junctions and finishing conditions;
Review and resolve technical design issues arising during design development and construction.
Complex Mixed-Use & Hospitality Projects
Provide architectural and technical expertise for complex mixed-use and multifunctional facilities, including hotels, F&B, entertainment, SPA centers, BOH areas, kitchens, dining facilities, MEP plant rooms, and other technical/service areas;
Coordinate architectural requirements for high-standard hospitality and commercial environments;
Ensure functional planning and technical solutions meet project requirements and relevant international standards;
Apply knowledge of fire-safety regulations and specialized building requirements; familiarity with NFPA standards is preferred.
Multidisciplinary Coordination
Lead and coordinate architectural interfaces with structural, MEP, interior design, landscape, curtain wall/façade and other specialist consultants;
Identify and resolve design conflicts and coordination issues between disciplines;
Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and coordination meetings;
Review consultant drawings and ensure architectural requirements are properly incorporated.
Utilize Revit and other relevant tools for multidisciplinary coordination and clash detection where applicable.
Site & Construction Coordination
Act as a Resident/Site Architect when required and provide architectural technical support during construction;
Coordinate with contractors, consultants, site supervision teams, and other project stakeholders;
Review shop drawings, material submissions, samples, mock-ups, and technical proposals;
Respond to RFIs and resolve technical queries and design changes arising on site;
Assess proposed site variations and provide appropriate architectural solutions;
Monitor architectural works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, design intent, and required quality standards;
Support the identification and resolution of construction quality issues.
Project Management & Design Delivery
Manage architectural deliverables and ensure drawings and technical documents are completed within agreed timelines;
Monitor design progress, identify potential delays or technical risks, and implement corrective actions;
Coordinate with project management and other departments to maintain smooth project execution;
Ensure consistency and accuracy across all architectural documentation;
Support senior management in design reviews, technical discussions, and project decision-making.
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and coordinate junior architects and architectural team members;
Allocate tasks and monitor the quality and progress of team deliverables;
Provide technical guidance and support to team members;
Promote effective communication and collaboration within the project team;
Maintain high professional standards in a fast-paced and demanding project environment.
Communication & Documentation
Communicate effectively in English with international consultants, contractors, clients, and project stakeholders;
Prepare and review RFIs, technical reports, design submissions, presentations, meeting minutes, and other project documentation;
Participate in client, consultant, contractor, and internal coordination meetings;
Clearly communicate technical issues, design decisions, and proposed solutions.
Essential requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from a recognized institution;
Minimum 10+ years of professional architectural experience;
Proven experience in residential, mixed-use public, commercial, and/or hospitality projects;
Experience in luxury hotel projects is highly preferred;
Registered Architect qualification recognized nationally or internationally, such as Chartered Architect, AIA, RIBA, SLIA or equivalent;
Strong experience in construction documentation and detailed architectural design;
Proven experience in multidisciplinary coordination and site/construction supervision;
Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD and SketchUp;
Strong ability to produce and review complete sets of architectural construction drawings;
Strong knowledge of architectural detailing, construction methods, and interior/exterior junctions;
Working knowledge of Revit is preferred, particularly for multidisciplinary coordination and clash detection;
Good understanding of building codes, fire-safety requirements and technical standards;
Familiarity with NFPA standards is an advantage;
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills;
Strong leadership, problem-solving, coordination and decision-making abilities;
Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and in high-pressure project environments;
Ability to work under pressure.
