∎ Summary:
∎ The purpose of BMEL is to ensure that development programs funded by USAID/Bangladesh achieve their intended results through strong performance management of services in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with a focus on monitoring technical services, evaluation of technical services, and learning and adaptive management services.
∎ ME&A is recruiting several Research Associates for a situational analysis on higher secondary education in Bangladesh. The objective of this study is to gather comprehensive data on higher secondary education (grades 11 and 12), and build the knowledge and evidence base to understand how the Higher Secondary Education sub-sector functions, and the problems and challenges it faces.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Gather and review relevant data and documents from USAID and secondary sources;
∎ Assist the study team (ST) consultants to conduct Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) in Dhaka by taking complete and accurate notes and updating the Findings, Conclusions and Recommendations Matrix;
∎ Travel to two divisions outside of Dhaka for up to 13 days to assist the ST consultants to conduct KIIs by taking complete and accurate notes and updating the Findings, Conclusions and Recommendations Matrix;
∎ Conduct quality assurance visits of a school-based survey;
∎ Collect and analyze secondary source education statistics and documents from divisions, districts and subdistricts;
∎ Provide detailed notes in MS Word after analyzing education statistics;
∎ Contribute to the assembly, coding and preparation of the study data;
∎ Conduct analysis of the study data to answer study questions; and
∎ Assist in the preparation of findings, conclusions and recommendations for presentation in the out-brief PPT and draft analysis report including preparation of the annexes.

Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 2 years working experience in research, preferably with some experience in education research
∎ Must have experience conducting data collection activities including having conducted or assisted with survey interviews, KIIs and/or focus group discussions
∎ Must have experience conducting analysis of primary and secondary data and producing research results
∎ Excellent English writing skills
∎ Proven ability to work in a collaborative and team environment
∎ Excellent oral and written skills in English
