∎ Following the massive displacement of around 900,000 Rohingya people into Bangladesh, since the end of August 2017, Tdh is implementing an emergency response program to provide relief to the Rohingya refugees and host communities, notably on Child protection, WASH and Health.
∎ Purpose of the Post:
∎ Ensuring mental health and psychosocial (MHPS) consultations with target groups (both Rohingya and Host community) in the two PHCs managed by Tdh.
∎ Diagnosing and treating mental illnesses and, if necessary, refer them.
∎ The type of mental illness situations mainly encountered include depression, psychosis, epilepsy, child and adolescent mental & behavioral disorder, dementia, a disorder due to substance use, and self-harm/suicide.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Collaboration with the medical team, MH awareness to improve detection of mental health symptoms and signs, discussion of difficult cases, referrals etc
∎ Provide individual or group psychological counseling for the population at risk (adults and children), support the coping process of the population and mobilize their inner resources for processing traumatic experiences and finding a new life perspective
∎ Visit beneficiaries at home/tent/shelter in order to assess needs and follow up evolution when required.
∎ Refer patients to other health professionals whenever necessary with the help of a medical doctor
∎ Provide ongoing monitoring of beneficiaries' status and maintain clinical files accurately
∎ Provide psycho-education or other psychosocial activities to the community, when required
∎ Assist and train Community Workers, counselors and other staff members and resourceful people from the community
∎ Support analysis of PHC mental health data to better plan future MHPS activities
∎ Make regular reports of work to the supervisor.
∎ Participate in weekly staff meetings and regular supervision sessions
∎ Maintain at all times a respectful attitude towards population, patients, colleagues and other professionals and staff
∎ Assist with the coordination with national and international Health and Mental Health actors; participate in the MHPSS cluster meetings when requested
∎ Support the PHC Manager in the monitoring of the implementation of the Mental Health activities, including the management of data-collection and patients forms.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ 2 to 3 year(s) experience in psychological counseling

∎ Interest in helping vulnerable people
∎ Local dialects/languages (desirable)
