Responsibilities & Context:

Responsible for: 

  • Individual counselling sessions with beneficiaries where required to discuss complex cases. 

  • Be available on call if any urgent matters arise that a staff member would like to share regarding their casework or his/her personal well being. 

  • Development of peer/reflective practices with teams. 

  • Support current MHPSS practices, reflecting on a cross-sectoral approach. Identify MHPSS service providers and agree on referral pathways. 

  • Structured MHPSS activities for boys and girls, organized in age-appropriate groups with a clear methodology or curriculum to promote mental well-being. Such activities must align with donor commitments in already-funded projects. 

Activities: 

  • Oversee the establishment of basic MHPSS services. 

  • Develop a monthly action plan for the main MHPSS activities to be conducted. 

  • Provide psychosocial support and counseling to GBV survivors. 

  • Refer severe cases to the psychiatrist. 

  • Provide psychosocial support for adolescents and child survivors. 

  • Provide regular capacity building and training for project staff in MHPSS. 

  • Ensure staff understand and follows best practices and procedures. 

  • Prepare internal and external reports within agreed deadlines 

  • Attend all relevant meetings/workshops/training. 

  • Act always in accordance with the Code of Conduct.  

  • Honest and high level of integrity. 

Skill and Competencies  

  • Master's in Clinical psychology/Counseling Psychology/Clinical social work from any Government recognized university.  

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working as a psychologist, preferably in the FDMN community. 

  • Experience in psychosocial support, counseling, and training skills. 

  • In-depth understanding of MHPSS, root causes of GBV, Humanitarian and related international standards, and GBV prevention and response strategies. 

  • Experience in humanitarian or emergency contexts. 

  • Counseling experience, particularly with low-literate beneficiaries. 

  • Fluency in English.  

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.  

  • Willingness to travel and work in a low-resource setting in a hard-to-reach area.
