Job Context:
∎ GIZ Bangladesh is currently seeking applications for its programme "Rule of Law" for the position "Project Officer- Research".
∎ Band: 3T
∎ Contract Duration: till 31 December 2022
∎ Job Location: Dhaka (field visits expected)
Job Responsibilities:
∎ The position holder is responsible to:
∎ Design computer-based data processing worksheet and support to data collection, data processing and analysis on formal and informal justice system
∎ Develop data collection tools, questionnaire, interview schedule etc.
∎ Provide necessary support to undertake various research initiatives on policy reform
∎ Support the team with technical expertise for both qualitative and quantitative analysis of the data on criminal justice system
∎ Provide necessary support to the smooth implementation of the project
∎ Support the implementation of National Justice Audit
∎ Maintain proper documentation, prepare report and update project information
∎ Support to maintain regular coordination and communication with the stakeholders
∎ Provide other necessary support as required in collaboration with team
∎ B. Tasks (Main Job Role):
∎ Research and data analysis
∎ Contribute in developing and updating case data analysis, case summary format, etc.
∎ Support to conduct secondary research, content analysis, desk research, translation etc.
∎ Compile, process and analyse case data from different districts using both qualitative and quantitative techniques
∎ Assist in conceptualizing various research initiatives including preparation of concept note, designing methodology etc. for research on justice reform
∎ Visit project implementation area as required
∎ Communication and Coordination
∎ Support to organize various events like conference, workshop, meeting, seminar, etc.
∎ Support team members with necessary information, documents, reports etc.
∎ Prepare necessary documents/presentations for project steering and advisory committee meeting, inter-ministerial meeting and other meetings with the counterpart
∎ Coordinate with Administration Team in preparing logistics and event management for different events at national and district level
∎ Provide support to international and national consultants as required
∎ Work with other components of the programme when and where necessary to learn from and consolidate the lessons learned
∎ Reporting, Documentation and Knowledge Management
∎ Support to prepare and develop monthly, quarterly & yearly project activity plan and project progress report etc.
∎ Support to prepare project presentation, reports, brochure and other publications when and where necessary
∎ Assist to prepare meeting proceedings, workshop outputs and event reports
∎ Assist in preparing presentation (both English and Bangla)
∎ Translate relevant documents, presentations from and to Bangla and English and vice versa
∎ Provide necessary support to the national & international consultants through desk research, content analysis, when and where necessary
∎ C. Other duties/additional tasks (Specific Job Role):
∎ Contribute in other project activities and any other tasks as required
∎ Undertake further job related training to his/her position and duties, if required. Specific training needs shall be identified and appropriate programs selected jointly with line management.
∎ Support other output's team members of Rule of Law Program as required
Additional Requirements:
∎ Professionalism - a solid background in project work and ability to work autonomously, take initiatives and be pro-active. Conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results.
∎
∎ Communication - strong analytical and communication (spoken, written, presentational) skills, including ability to summarise and clearly present complex issues, conducive to the implementation of the programme. Demonstrated skills in communicating with people from different backgrounds.
∎
∎ Teamwork - strong ability to work in a team and be supportive to others' efforts and work.
∎ Academic and Professional experience:
∎ Relevant professional experience in public or private sectors/NGO/ Development Cooperation will be an asset
∎ At least 2 years' experience in research, content analysis, desk research with a strong background in quantitative analysis and reporting using computer-based software
∎ Other knowledge, additional competences:
∎ Knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice system, village court, justice institutions, criminal law and procedure etc. will be treated as an asset
∎ Working experience with international/bilateral organization will be an added advantage
∎ Proven ability in self-organization, to work under pressure and deliver on time
∎ Proven commitment to gender equality and disability
∎ Good working knowledge of modern telecommunication system
∎ Language- English, Bangla
