Job Context:
∎ This position has overall responsibility for the management of all project activities and staff of a 58 months Nutrition Sensitive Value Chains for Smallholder Farmers in Bangladesh Project Adopting a Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture approach, the project aims to improve the nutritional status of 20000 smallholder farmers (Marginal & ultra-poor) and their households in three sub districts (Sadar, Islampur and Dewanganj) of Jamalpur district in North Bangladesh.
∎ The Project Manager is accountable for the successful delivery of the goal and outcomes the project and will regularly report progress in achieving them.
∎ This position will ensure project planning, budget preparing, training & workshops facilitation; prepare all reports and document properly in time and all other required activities to ensure smooth operations in the project.
∎ This position will report to the Regional Field Director.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Overall Leadership in delivering the Project Goal & outcomes.
∎ Provide leadership in achieving the goal and outcomes of the project mobilizing, staff and local partners and other project resources.
∎ Lead technical and support team members in project implementation in accordance with the standards of programming and the requirements of WV and the donor including financial and M & E functions.
∎ Manage the relationship with local partners and Government counterpart ensuring that project objectives under which they are responsible are achieved, its field implementation are managed and coordinated.
∎ Manage the field level implementation of the partners of the project.
∎ Build and maintain donor relationship and contracts, reporting and monitoring and evaluation.
∎ The project manager will be representing the project in the Government office specially health authorities, Agriculture extension, local partners and DFAT post in Bangladesh if required.
∎ Conduct regular meeting and follow up with partners and will provide necessary support to the field team.
∎ Project implementation: Accomplish all the project activities as per design.
∎ Financial Management/Policy adherence: Ensure accountability and quality management system in place.
∎ Relationship management of partners and other external stakeholders; and issue management.
∎ Ensure quality reporting and documentation.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Have basic understanding on nutrition sensitive Agriculture or value chain development or nutrition or women’s empowerment issues.
∎ Hands on project management experience, with experience with grants highly desirable
∎ Advanced understanding on monitoring and evaluation (M&E)
∎ Strategic Writing and Communication Skills both in Bengali and English.
∎ Knowledge & skills on Communications, Networking and Advocacy.
∎ Leadership and team building.
∎ Strong stakeholder management and coordination skills, flexibility, adaptability and patience; facilitation and interpersonal skills.
∎ Strong knowledge on bi-lateral/multi-lateral donors specifically DFAT, Australia, USAID, EC and their compliance requirements.
∎ 7-8 years of experience in the fields of Humanitarian and Development work of which at least 3 years in managing project including project design, monitoring and evaluation.
∎ 3-5 year of experience in the field of Nutrition/value chain/women’s empowerment in a project management role.
∎ Partnership management including contract management.
∎ Experience in working on grants funded by international donors, including grants compliance.
