Responsibilities & Context:

Job Summary:

The Position (Pattern In-Charge) is responsible for overseeing and managing all pattern-related activities in the Sample Department, ensuring accurate interpretation of buyer tech packs, proper pattern development, and fitting accuracy. The role is crucial for successful sample approval and smooth transition to bulk production in knit garments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Pattern Development:

  • Analyze buyer’s tech packs, specifications, and design sketches to create accurate garment patterns.

  • Develop first patterns, fit patterns, and graded patterns for all types of samples (Proto, Fit, SMS, Size Set, PP).

  • Ensure patterns are technically correct and production-friendly while maintaining design aesthetics and fit.

Sample & Fit Coordination:

  • Work closely with the sampling and merchandising teams to ensure samples meet buyer requirements.

  • Conduct fit sessions with sample garments and make necessary pattern corrections based on buyer or in-house feedback.

  • Ensure measurements and grading are consistent and aligned with buyer standards.

Team Supervision:

  • Lead the pattern team (CAD operators, pattern masters, helpers) and distribute tasks effectively.

  • Provide technical guidance to junior pattern makers and coordinate with sample tailors for garment construction.

CAD & Technical Tools:

  • Operate pattern design software (such as Lectra, Gerber, Optitex, or others).

  • Digitize manual patterns and ensure proper archiving of digital files.

Documentation & Records:

  • Maintain proper records of all approved patterns and revisions.

  • Ensure updated pattern library is available and accessible for production reference.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Coordinate with the sample manager, quality, and production teams to ensure seamless handover of approved samples to bulk production.

  • Support QA team in resolving any pattern or fit-related issues during production.
