Job Context:
∎ The Paramedic is a member of the IRC health team and will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the IRCs emergency referral activities in the Rohingya Refugee Camp, (S)/He will ensure the delivery of high quality emergency referral activities including obstetric emergency stabilization, mass casualty response, emergency response, and trauma stabilization.
∎ Under the supervision of the Referral Hub Team Leader and in-conjunction with other healthcare staff, the Paramedic will be responsible for the delivery of emergency referral services such as:
∎ (a) Apply knowledge and skills to manage emergency maternal and neonatal healthcare problems, ensuring appropriate patient triage and detection of obstetric emergencies
∎ (b) Provide health promotion and counselling to patients and caregivers in coordination with the community outreach teams
∎ (c) Ensure that emergency referral services are implemented in conformity with relevant Ministry of health or international guidelines
∎ (d) Ensure timely and accurate recording of patient information and consultations in relevant patient registers/MEAL system and facilitate the timely submission of require health reports
∎ Department: Health – Emergency Referral Hubs
∎ Work Location: Ukhiya/Teknaf (Refugee camp)
∎ Reporting to: Referral Hub Team Leader
∎ Contract Length: Up to December 31, 2019 (with possibility of Extension subject to funding, program needs and performance of incumbent)

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Clinical Care:
∎ Mentor referral hub staff on the following areas of emergency medical response:
∎ Obstetric Emergency referral.
∎ Catastrophic trauma stabilization
∎ Triage patients accordingly
∎ Refer patients to the most appropriate medical facility in a timely manner
∎ Provide direct emergency stabilization
∎ Delivery of hygiene promotion, health education and patient caregiver counseling in coordination with the community outreach team as required
∎ Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control measures
∎ Ensure appropriate stock of essential equipment & supplies in emergency referral hub
∎ Ensure patient confidentiality is respected, and that all consultations are conducted in a dignified and respectful manner
∎ Prepare weekly work plans and report in coordination with the line manager
∎ Ensure that the referral hub project is implemented in line with the IRC principles: promoting and protecting rights, participation, capacity building, partnership and holistic programming
∎ Work closely with other IRC programs present in the same location, such as Women's Protection and Empowerment, Integrated Community Case Management, and integrate program components to the extent possible
∎ Staff Supervision & Development:
∎ Maintain open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and provide mentorship to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions
∎ Provide nursing/medical support and mentorship to other staff, providing on-the-job training where needed
∎ Project Management:
∎ Support community outreach program to provide health promotion, community mobilization and awareness raising as required
∎ Ensure regular inventory and consumption tracking of medical equipment, drugs, and supplies
∎ Work with relevant staff to ensure prompt requesting of emergency referral hub medical equipment and supplies
∎ Coordination & Representation:
∎ Develop and maintain effective working relationships with local communities, local government agencies and other implementing partners
∎ Monitoring & Reporting:
∎ Ensure all patient consultations are documented and patient records completed.
∎ Submit daily reports in a timely manner
∎ Other Duties:
∎ Consistently and dedicatedly monitor/assess the safety and security of the team; promptly reporting concerns or incidents to IRC management and liaising with community leaders and other external parties as required to maintain/enhance the security environment for IRC programs

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 22 years
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ At least 2 years’ clinical experience in emergency medical care with priority given to experience in maternal and child healthcare
∎ Previous experience MCH care and training in sexual gender-based violence and clinical care for sexual assault survivors (desirable)
∎ Registered with Local Paramedic Council or Nursing Council or State Medical Faculty
∎ Ability to lead, train, supervise and facilitate referral hub team and community health workers in their respective tasks
∎ Ability to understand the cultural and political environment.
∎ Skills to provide sensitive and appropriate medical counselling
∎ Excellent communication skills
∎ Should be a teammate with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure in a stressful environment, displaying patience, compassion and diplomacy
∎ Ability to be creative, flexible, adaptive, and willingness to work in challenging situations
∎ Ability to live in challenging conditions
∎ Completion of minimum of 18 months of paramedic/medical assistant/nursing diploma course

Salary: Tk. 35000 (Monthly)

∎ Two bonuses in a year equivalent to two basic salaries
