Educational Requirements:
∎ BSc in Optometry

Experience Requirements:
∎ 1 to 2 year(s)

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Perform thorough routine eye inspections.
∎ Identify the patient's visual alertness, the field of vision, and hand-eye coordination.
∎ Diagnose sight problems, such as nearsightedness and color blindness.
∎ Prescribe corrective lenses and medications.
∎ Maintain accurate medical files for all patients.
∎ Promote eye health by teaching patients about proper eye care techniques.
∎ Identify and assess eye defects and diseases such as diabetes and liver failure.
∎ Record all diagnosis and treatment plans including transfers and therapeutic prescriptions.
∎ Ability to work effectively under pressure in hardship situations and harmoniously within a team of colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds
∎ Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
∎ Accountability, continuous learning, communication, professionalism, teamwork, creativity and initiative, leadership and negotiation, and technological awareness.

Additional Requirements:
∎ One-year internship in a recognized eye hospital
∎ At least two years of working experience in any eye hospital or clinic Knowledge and experience with working in field hospitals, public health sectors
