  • Preferred: Non-profit setting with remote team structure, and experience in a fast-paced environment with a small team.

The Hunger Project Bangladesh (THPBD), a branch of the Global Hunger Project (dba THP), is one of the largest volunteer-based development organizations in Bangladesh, with over 250,000 volunteers, implementing strategies of community-led development across the country since 1991 to help create a self-reliant Bangladesh that is free of hunger and poverty. The Hunger Project Bangladesh has empowered tens of thousands of women and men, youth leaders, local elected representatives, and CSOs to address hunger and poverty. THPBD’s core program approach involves the SDG Union Strategy which involves working in partnership with local governments and communities to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

Position Summary

The Director of Finance and Administration (DFA) is responsible for overseeing and leading all financial, administrative & Human Resources activities, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, government regulations, THP policies and procedures and donor requirements. The Director of Finance and Administration ensure legal compliance with local laws and regulations, provides financial and technical management for grant budgeting, expense monitoring and timely preparation and submission of financial reports and manages budgets, audits, forecasting, and supporting grant management efforts.  Reporting to the Country Director, the DFA oversees a team of finance, admin and HR personnel including an Accounts Manager, a Finance, Grants and Compliance Manager, Finance and Admin officers, and an HR and Admin Officer.

This role works in close collaboration with the Director, Global Accounting and Finance, the Backbone Global Finance - Grants, Contracts, Systems & Reporting, and the Regional Financial Coach, and the Senior Director, Global Operations & Human Resources. The role regularly interfaces with the finance team in the “Partner Countries” funding programs in the country, and the Global Grants and Compliance (GGC), more generally.
While the DFA is supervised within the country by the Country Director, the position is functionally accountable to the CFO based in the Global Office.
