Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Prepare and plan seed production schedule in accordance with seed production targets indicated by management for the year.
∎ Contribute to the screening and selection of out-growers for yearly seed production activities.
∎ Participate in planting, rouging, detasseling, and harvesting as well as provide technical backstopping on recommended agricultural practices for seed production.
∎ Seed production of open-pollinated varieties, inbred lines, and hybrids.
∎ Monitor and ensure quality control standards for the production of foundation and/or certified seeds of open-pollinated variety, inbred lines and hybrids are met.
∎ Maintain records for seed production outputs, farm management practices and parent stock delivery.
∎ Implement and enforce quality assurances and control, tracking of programs to meet quality objectives.
∎ Establishment of demonstration plots and high-way seed plots for training of farmers on good agricultural practices.
∎ Prepare and maintain seed production reports.
∎ Supervise field staff and ensure effective utilization of resources.
∎ Any other responsibility assigned by Line Manager or the Management.
