Job Context:
∎ Since the beginning of 2021, CIMSOLUTIONS has been carrying out a successful project on behalf of a International Machine building company. This project is realized by a multi-site (in the Netherlands and Bangladesh) Agile Scrum team consisting of 3 developers and a project manager / Scrum Master. Because of the good cooperation, our customer has indicated that it will also award the follow-up project to CIMSOLUTIONS and we have been asked to scale up with extra development capacity. For a new release of the Application platform, the MES functionalities in the application are completely redesigned. Changing this to a business-oriented approach with workflows is a game changer in the market. The company will develop standard workflows to cover a part of the manufacturing process of our customers out of the box.
∎ Workflows describe the user and system activities needed to accomplish specific tasks. Workflows are modelled using a variant of BPMN that is extended with some application-specific modelling elements. Workflows expose configuration elements (e.g. business rules, task configurations, signal handlers) that can be used to configure the workflow for a specific customer or site. The first objective of the CIMSOLUTIONS project was to create a MVP is to create a minimum viable product (MVP) of a Workflow Editor. This editor provides functionality to create both company standard and customer specific workflows. It is also used to configure business processes and DCP processes at customer sites. This project will be delivered as planned at the end of September 2021. In the next phase of the project, the functionality will be expanded with debug and documentation facilities, diagnostics, extending the API and the back-end etc.
