Job Context:

Tdh interventions are focused on the three programs: Health, Migration and Access to Justice particularly for vulnerable children. Tdh Foundation has a transversal approach towards Child Protection programming and it cuts across all the thematic areas while also has been considered as one of the key value propositions in its business model. The Child Protection expertise within Tdh Foundation aims to develop high quality, evidence-based knowledge and know-how adapted to fragile contexts, conflict zones, and development to improve the protection of children`s rights and their right to protection from all forms of violence (art 19, 34 CRC) in collaboration with and in support of the three core programs. The Tdh Foundation global strategy 2021-2024 specifies that the will have demonstrated that rights-based participation, empowerment, and active involvement of children and communities in defining and implementing responses are essential to improve child protection.
∎ Context:
∎ Tdh is working in Bangladesh since 1974, with operations in Kurigram district, Dhaka district and Cox Bazaar district. Currently, Tdh is implementing programs on Health, Access to Justice (social cohesion and conflict resolution) and Migration, integrated by the transversal expertise WASH and Child protection. Tdh interventions in Bangladesh are both in development and emergency context.
∎ Following the massive displacement of more than 800,000 people into Bangladesh since the end of August 2017, Tdh has put in place an important emergency response plan to provide relief to the Rohingya refugees, notably on Health, WASH, Child Protection and Social cohesion. Alongside, Tdh is implementing the CLARISSA project in Dhaka slums aiming to build a strong evidence base and generate innovative solutions to the worst forms of child labour (WFCL) and will explore how to take these solutions to scale.
∎ Tdh in Bangladesh has started the process of integration of emergency and development approaches and aims to capitalize its institutional learning for further programme expansion and to create critical pathways for evidence-based advocacy.
∎ PURPOSE OF POST:
∎ Midwives are responsible for supporting the operationalization of the health project monitoring and evaluation system by ensuring health data and information is collected, checked for completeness and quality, entered and disseminated, and feedback up taken in a timely manner, by joining and contributing to health assessments, supportive supervision, project activity initiation and review and linking the project with stakeholders in the field level.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Provide Antenatal care to pregnant women attending ANC services:
∎ Welcoming all the pregnant women coming for the ANC services into health facilities.
∎ Conduct screening for all pregnant women in accordance with the national protocol.
∎ Provide all services given in ANC including protocol drugs and screening for all mothers.
∎ Identify all risk factors associated with the pregnancy and refer appropriately and take action.
∎ Provide Iron supplementation, and ensure the mothers are immunized with TT toxoid as per the protocol.
∎ Provide Health education and nutrition education for all women attending ANC services.
∎ Register all the required information on the ANC Registers and ANC cards as per protocol.
∎ Provide Postnatal care as per the protocols to all women attending PNC clinic.
∎ Conduct screening for all lactating women attending Post- Natal care in accordance with the national protocol.
∎ Provide Vitamin A, medical supplements and other protocol drugs as per protocol to lactating women.
∎ Provide Nutrition counseling and health education on the importance of lactation.
∎ Send the caretaker to the EPI department for immunization.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 22 years
∎ Only females are allowed to apply
∎ Licensing registration from Midwifery Board
∎ Minimum one-year professional experience
∎ Experience in running a maternity/MCH clinic will be an asset
∎ Knowledgeable in sexual, reproductive and maternal health programming
∎ Good skills in delivering training and health education
∎ Fluency in oral and written communication in English, including representation, liaison and negotiation skills. Knowledge of Bangla and Chitagonian would be an asset.

∎ Conduct Normal and complicated deliveries in line with all guidelines.
∎ Monitor labour using partograph and in Line with all guidelines provided to monitor deliveries.
∎ Respond to all cases of Obstetric emergencies in line with the protocols in consultation with the doctor and other medical staff.
∎ Identify, stabilize and refer all cases of emergency obstetric complications with the help of the doctors and other medical staff.
∎ Infection control and universal precautions.
∎ Adhere to international standards in infection control and waste management.
∎ Ensure aseptic techniques in provision of RH services.
∎ Sterilize and disinfect all the instruments used during delivery and other obstetric services.
∎ Heath Education:
∎ Providing health education at the reproductive health waiting area and at all levels of RH care
∎ Participate in provision of one-to-one health education to all patients during consultation and services delivery
∎ Other roles:
∎ Provide support and supervision to other staff when called upon to by the Maternity Supervisor.
