Job Context:
∎ The IRC Medical Doctor will be responsible for the management of the IRCs BEmONC Center activities in the Rohingya Refugee Camp, Cox Bazar providing life-saving maternal and child health and sexual and reproductive health care.
∎ The Medical Doctor will implement and take charge of the BEmONC Center`s daily clinical care activities and will be responsible for ensuring the provision of high quality emergency MCH healthcare services in the facility.
∎ Country: Bangladesh

∎ Contract length: Up to April 30, 2020 (with possibility of Extension subject to funding, program needs and performance of incumbent)

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Clinical care:
∎ Provide direct clinical care, working closely with the midwives to ensure the delivery of high quality MCH care services and sexual and reproductive healthcare.
∎ Manage Neonates, and obstetric emergencies presenting, ensuring appropriate referral as needed.
∎ Make a tour in the delivery and labour room every morning & afternoon together with the responsible midwife.
∎ Supervise medication distribution. Ensure every patient received the prescribed medication.
∎ Guarantee proper care is given in admission room. Ensure proper flow and crowd control.
∎ Guarantee quality and follow up of patients in labour (program, VE, nursing care, asepsis of injections, observation of vital signs, follow up of oxytocin stimulation, follow up of FHR, follow up of complicated obstetrical cases, etc.).
∎ Guarantee quality and follow up of patients in delivery room (normal & complicated deliveries, episiotomy, follow up of FHR, MVA, Management of PPH, resuscitation new-borns, first general check-up of new-borns, etc.).
∎ Inform the RH Manager if complication arises that can't be managed and Refer.
∎ Ensure the correct completing of the patients' file and patogram.
∎ Supervise and help midwives when difficulties occur.
∎ Mentor medical assistants in the BEmONC center on the following areas of RH:
∎ Take the lead in resuscitation of Newborn with Asphyxia.
∎ Counselling and provision of Family Planning
∎ Clinical Care for Sexual Assault Survivors
∎ Syndromic treatment of STIs
∎ Post abortion Care
∎ Menstrual regulation
∎ Antenatal and Post-natal care
∎ Ensure appropriate infection prevention and control measures are in place at the location and monitor staff adherence.
∎ Ensure patient confidentiality is respected, and that all consultations are conducted in a dignified and respectful manner.
∎ Staff Supervision & Development:
∎ Maintain open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and providing oversight and guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions.
∎ Provide medical support and mentorship to other BEmONC facility staffs, providing on-the-job training where needed.
∎ Directly supervise additional medical staff working in the center.
∎ Project Management:
∎ Responsible for the overall technical and administrative over sight of the BEmONC services.
∎ Oversee the training of community volunteers to provide community mobilization and awareness raising.
∎ Ensure regular inventory and consumption tracking of medical drugs and supplies.
∎ Work with relevant staff to ensure prompt requesting of medical drugs and supplies.
∎ Monitoring & Reporting:
∎ Ensure all patient consultations are documented and patient records completed.
∎ Assist and supervise medical staff in maintaining facility registers and other data collection tools, ensuring accurate and timely recording of information.
∎ Assist and supervise medical staff in daily collection, compilation and reporting of data.
∎ Submit daily reports in a timely manner.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 25 years
∎ Only females are allowed to apply
∎ At least 3 years clinical experience in Maternal and child Health care facility, Management of Neonatal/Childhood Illness, Emergency Obstetric Care, Syndromic Management of STIs and clinical care of sexual assault survivors.
∎ Experience in management of health facilities and staff, including previous experience of supervising and mentoring other health staff.
∎ Ability and flexibility to understand the cultural and political environment and to work well with the local health representatives.
∎ Skills to provide sensitive and appropriate medical counselling.
∎ Excellent communication skills, good spoken and writing of concise reports in English.
∎ Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure in a stressful environment, displaying patience, compassion and diplomacy.
∎ Ability to be innovative, flexible, adaptive, and willingness to work in potentially stressful and challenging environments.
∎ Ability to live and work in challenging conditions.
∎ Quality SRH programming in the BEmONC.
∎ Leadership, training, and guidance to SRH staff.
∎ Timely and accurate RH data collection and reporting.
∎ Prepare reports within agreed datelines.
∎ People who are familiar with local culture and local dialects will get preference.
