Responsibilities & Context:

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Strategically lead import procurement and SCM to secure raw materials at optimal cost, ensuring supply continuity and driving competitive advantage for Akij Resource. Focused for Trading Cluster (AKij Commodities ltd., Nobayon Traders ltd, Akij Essential ltd. etc.)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead end-to-end import procurement of raw materials, ensuring 100% supply alignment with production plans.

  • Drive global sourcing strategies to minimize landed costs and mitigate supply chain risks.

  • Execute high-volume trading purchase deals, negotiating favorable payment terms (LC, TT, DP).

  • Optimize freight, logistics, and customs clearance to reduce lead times and port detention costs.

  • Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships across international markets (Asia, Europe, Americas).

  • Ensure strict compliance with Bangladesh customs regulations, IRC, VAT, and import policies.

  • Monitor global commodity price trends and advise leadership on forward-buying decisions.

  • Lead contract management, including incoterms, penalties, and performance clauses.

  • Collaborate with finance to manage foreign currency exposure and LC issuance.

  • Drive supplier performance scorecards, ensuring quality, delivery, and cost targets are met.

  • Implement digital SCM tools for real-time tracking of shipments and inventory.

  • Develop and mentor a high-performing procurement team to ensure operational excellence.
