Job Summary:

The Manager – Garments Sample Department is responsible for leading and coordinating all activities related to sample development, ensuring timely and accurate execution of buyer samples (proto, fit, size set, pre-production, etc.). The role demands strong technical knowledge of knit garments, fabric behavior, pattern making, and close collaboration with merchandising, design, and production teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Sample Management & Supervision:

  • Lead and manage the entire sample room team (tailors, pattern masters, sample coordinators).

  • Ensure all types of samples (development, fit, size set, SMS, PP) are made and submitted as per buyer`s T&A (Time & Action) plan.

  • Review tech packs and ensure correct interpretation for sample making.

  • Monitor sample workflow to meet strict deadlines.

• Technical Coordination:

  • Collaborate with the merchandising team and buyers to understand technical requirements and feedback.

  • Guide the pattern maker and sewing team to ensure accurate construction and measurements.

  • Analyze and interpret fit comments and take corrective actions on future samples.

• Team Leadership & Training:

  • Train sample room personnel to enhance technical skills and efficiency.

  • Supervise and improve team productivity, quality output, and morale.

• Process Improvement:

  • Introduce best practices in sample handling, fabric usage, and production feasibility.

  • Work on continuous improvement for lead time reduction and cost-efficiency.

• Liaison & Communication:

  • Act as the bridge between the merchandising, design, and production departments.

  • Regular communication with buyers (if required) regarding sample approval or technical clarifications.
