∎ Age at least 30 years
∎ Proven experience in aquaculture, hatchery management, or fisheries management, ideally in a leadership role.
∎ Strong knowledge of fish biology, aquaculture systems, water quality management, and disease control.
∎ Familiarity with industry best practices and sustainability in aquaculture.
Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Aquaculture Management:
∎ Oversee all aspects of fish farming operations, including water quality management, feed management, and stocking protocols.Monitor the growth and health of aquatic species, taking corrective actions when necessary.Ensure the development and implementation of best practices in sustainable aquaculture.
∎ Hatchery Management:
∎ Manage hatchery operations, including breeding, egg collection, incubation, and fingerling production.Monitor hatchery environments (temperature, oxygen levels, water quality) to ensure optimal conditions for fish development.Supervise hatchery staff and provide training on best practices and techniques for successful breeding and production.
∎ Health & Disease Management:
∎ Implement health protocols to prevent diseases and manage outbreaks, ensuring the welfare of aquatic species.Coordinate with veterinarians or aquaculture specialists to monitor fish health and conduct necessary treatments.
∎ Production Optimization:
∎ Develop strategies to improve productivity, including stock management, feeding schedules, and harvesting protocols.Analyze production data to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to increase yield.
∎ Compliance & Environmental Management:
∎ Ensure compliance with local,national, and international regulations regarding fish farming, water quality, and environmental impact.Develop and maintain sustainable farming practices that protect aquatic ecosystems and minimize environmental risks.
∎ Team Leadership & Training:
∎ Lead and manage a team of aquaculture technicians and hatchery staff, providing mentorship and guidance.Develop training programs to improve team skills in hatchery management, fish farming, and biosecurity.
∎ Budgeting & Cost Management:
∎ Assist in the preparation and management of the aquaculture and hatchery budgets.Optimize resource allocation, including feed, labor, and equipment, to minimize operational costs.
∎ Reporting & Documentation:
∎ Maintain detailed records of hatchery operations, fish health, water quality, and production results.Prepare reports for senior management on performance, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
