Educational Requirements:

Job Context:
∎ Scope of Responsibility: Country level
∎ Grade Level: Manager (Senior management for candidate with >15 years sold track record in chemical management; or Assistant Manager/Deputy Manager for candidate with less experience)
∎ Role Overview:
∎ In the context of environmental, health and sustainability development, it is the company’s strategy to accelerate and improve our chemical management system (CMS) to meet or exceed the expectation from our customers, NGOs and local government. The chemical manager is taking full responsibility to implement, improve and maintain the chemical management system at the facility level.
∎ He / she will become the manager working closely with the Chemical Management Representative (CMR) of the plants in Bangladesh as well as Youngone environmental sustainability council as the company’s most senior governance team.
∎ He / she will manage chemical risk and compliance based on the Youngone internal standard and customers’ chemical requirements. It is his / her responsibility to work with OHS and CSR team members to ensure chemical safety in production floors, chemical warehouses and other areas with chemical use.
∎ He / she will also need to work with the CSR team, wastewater treatment plant responsible and other members to ensure zero hazardous chemical discharge through wastewater and air emissions. He / She shall take initiative to work with the material division to regularly review and manage wastewater treatment capacity. Worker’s health and protection from chemical hazards will be managed by the chemical manager as well.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Being the manager of chemical management at the country level, he / she will report to the country management executives and in parallel to the Environmental Sustainability Council.
∎ Implement Youngone chemical management and wastewater policy.
∎ Ensuring legal compliance with site chemical health and safety management.
∎ Adopt and manage requirements given by customers RSL and MRSL plus wastewater discharge as a priority.
∎ Carry out regular internal assessment/review of all legislative and legal aspects across the local sites.
∎ Maintain good quality and verifiable chemical data in the chemical inventory list (CIL).
∎ Follow the procedures to manage chemical registration, purchase and disposal based on the Youngone internal positive list.
∎ Responsible for improving chemical management processes, procedures and system.
∎ Determine and regularly review chemical health and safety data requirement
∎ Provide guidance and leadership to the CSR members and support them to manage customers audits/programs.
∎ Plan, develop and deploy regular internal chemical audit.
∎ Organizing internal chemical trainings required by customers, local regulation and Youngone internal standard for chemical management.
∎ Planning and organizing local site level chemical management review meetings annually.
∎ Collaborate with other chemical manager(s) and support the council to improve the company’s chemical management strategy and implementation plan.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 10 years’ working experience with solid track record in chemical management in the textile and garment sector.
∎ Designation & experience may be relaxed for highly deserving candidate.
∎ Good knowledge or experience in textile dyeing, wastewater treatment and/or chemical lab testing will be an advantage.
∎ Change-management and mission-oriented mindset driven.
∎ Demonstrate good/deep knowledge and hands-on experience on ZDHC guidelines and tools including but not limited to the MRSL, approval CIM tools, wastewater guideline as well as the CMS guideline.
∎ Experience in chemical certification and system implementation such as Bluesign, OEKO-TEX, GOTS, GRS, etc.
∎ Excellent knowledge in chemical health and safety compliance in textile, garment and footwear industry.
∎ Demonstrate good understanding of Restricted Substances List (RSL) and Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (ZDHC MRSL version 2.0) management
∎ Proven track record in providing effective project and program results
∎ Excellent communication and interpersonal skill
∎ Good use of English language
∎ Experience in software application in chemical management (or other enterprise management software such as ERP) will be an advantage.
