Job Responsibilities:
∎ Assist the Senior Legal Officer, Bangladesh (SLO-BD) and the Program Officer, South Asia (PO-SA) with the ongoing activities of iProbono in Bangladesh.
∎ Develop operational strategy for iProbono Bangladesh to build litigation support for social justice issues in Bangladesh.
∎ Liaise between iProbono panel lawyers in Bangladesh and the Courts.
∎ Assist in designing and implementing clinical training for legal professionals and lawyers in Bangladesh in collaboration with partner organisations.
∎ Assist the SLO-BD in monitoring ongoing development in legal aid and pro bono policies in Bangladesh, and writing feature articles on our work.
∎ Assist the Team in implementing the iProbono country project under the supervision of the Managing Director (MD), the South Asia team and the SLO-BD.
∎ Assist the PO-SA in preparing Monthly Reports on iProbono Bangladesh’s activities.
∎ Represent iProbono Bangladesh at relevant meetings, consultations, and events.
∎ Support program development, implementation, administrative, and fundraising activities.
∎ Manage the financial accounts with the SLO-BD and take up administrative and logistical activities from time to time as assigned by the South Asia team.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Skills and Experience
∎ Graduate in Law. Must be enrolled as an Advocate. Having an LLM is preferable but not mandatory.
∎ Should be proficient in written and spoken Bangla and English. Must be skilled in legal drafting both in Bangla and English.
∎ Minimum 18 months of experience of practising in the District Courts. Practising in the Supreme Court of Bangladesh would be an advantage but is not a prerequisite.
∎ Good communication skills, highly organised, strategic thinker and results-driven.
∎ Strong knowledge of the legal system of Bangladesh, Human Rights, and social issues.
∎ Having an interest in criminal litigation specifically related to gender-based violence.
∎ Ability to build and maintain good relations with the civil society, the bar and the bench.
∎ Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Bijoy.
∎ Comfortable working independently as well as with a team.
∎ Comfortable with travelling if required.
