Interpreter and Translator
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Miscellaneous written and verbal translation/interpreting duties as assigned including COVID-19 related messages.
∎ Assist in communication with IRC staff, local staff, beneficiaries and/or any other relevant parties.
∎ Assist in documentation.
∎ Assist in communication at meetings and workshops.
∎ Assist in interpreting and conducting visits at sites.
∎ Assist in interviewing potential candidates as needed.
∎ Support activities at the sites as assign.
∎ Support other programs as needed in consultant with WPE & Health programming.
∎ Provide secretarial, administrative and organization support to assigned programs.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Proven experience in translation/interpretation services.
∎ Experience of working with refugees and vulnerable groups of people, preferred.
∎ Understanding and sensitivity to the needs of people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures
∎ Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
∎ Responsiveness to queries and referrals as and when needed and able to manage a varying workload.
∎ Cultural awareness and ability to build relationships quickly with a wide variety of people.
∎ Computer skills for translation purposes, preferred.
∎ Work experience in an English-speaking context.
∎ Demonstrated strong communication skills (written and spoken) in English/Chittagong/Bangla/ (and Rohingya if possible) and ability to translate and interpret into English and vice versa.
∎ Knowledge in Chittagonian dialects is a must.
