Job Context:
∎ Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, the IPC Officer will be responsible for all Environmental health/IPC activities of the Health Facility. These includes Program design, infrastructure design and construction, developing guidelines and SOPs, Staff training on IPC and coordination. He/ She will work closely with the Clinical Supervisor, Lab Supervisor and Program Support Team to ensure that the Health facility and services provided meet slandered IPC protocols. The Environmental Health Technical Advisor for the region will be available to provide any technical guidance and support remotely when needed.
∎ The ideal candidate will have an environmental health background and experience in Implementing water and sanitation for health facilities such as cholera treatment centers and disease-specific treatment units. "Highly desired criteria" include previous work in Triages and isolation facilities, highly contagious area or Level 4 biosafety area and knowledge of infection control and prevention.
∎ Job Location: Camp-06/11, Ukhiya, Cox`s Bazar
∎ Contract Length: Till 31 August 2022 (with possibility of extension)
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Conduct EH/IPC assessments in collaboration with DSRO/MEAL Coordinator and other sector Leads.
∎ Lead the maintenance of IPC in facilities, Water supply, excreta disposal and waste management facilities in the health facilities
∎ Train and supervise EH/Other staff on protocols for overall water, hygiene, sanitation, and waste management at the health facilities.
∎ Ensure correct strict processes and protocols for overall water, hygiene, sanitation, and waste management at the health facilities.
∎ Ensure all WASH facilities in the health facilities meet standards; making recommendations on upgrading facilities as needed.
∎ Oversee procurement of EH/IPC services and supplies and ensure that all Construction contracts are managed in line with IRC standards.
∎ Establish a functional water treatment and water quality monitoring system in every IRC supported facility.
∎ Implement and provide oversight for strict protocols for infection prevention and control and waste management.
∎ Provide capacity building to hygienists/IWs and waste attendants at health facilities on infection prevention and control, including waste management.
∎ Maintain open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and providing oversight and guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions.
∎ Provide support to IWs/Clinical and Non-Clinical staffs for work plans, staff training/development activities.
∎ Development/ maintenance of effective and efficient oversight, support, quality control and reporting systems and processes.
∎ Ensure regular field monitoring and modifications as required.
∎ Consistently and proactively monitor/assess the safety and security of the team; promptly reporting concerns or incidents to Clinical Supervisor liaising with community leaders and other external parties as required to maintain/enhance the security environment for IRC programs.
∎ Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop IRC programs.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Qualified Engineer or Public Health Specialist with minimum 2 years of working experience in designing health and WASH infrastructure in emergencies.
∎ Excellent understanding of EH/IPC issues in emergency situations and knowledge of humanitarian standards (SPHERE).
∎ Strong leadership, management, planning, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills;
∎ Ability to live and work in stressful environment.
∎ Excellent initiator and able to manage multiple tasks.
∎ Able to work under pressure and good at timely decision making.
∎ Competent in Microsoft Office, Word and Excel and engineering design software (AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, Epanet etc.).
∎ Knowledge and/or experience in conflict management, protection, or other related field.
∎ Excellent professional approach and strong team building skills.
Salary: Tk. 47560 (Monthly)
