Experience Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of experience in community nutrition and/or Nutrition-sensitive activity.

  • At least 6 months of experience in the Rohingya Refugee context.

  • Technical knowledge on Community management of acute malnutrition (CMAM) programming

  • Have good knowledge on Rohingya refugee programs.

  • Demonstrated ability to think and manage strategically, plan and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory role to lead a large field team.

  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal as well as Bangla.

  • Proficient knowledge of standard computer software is desirable.

Age Limit:

  • Maximum 35 Years (on 15th April 2026), but for highly potential candidate (s) age can be flexible.

Skills: ESSENTIAL

  • Ability and willingness to travel to camps and stay at the field if required.

  • Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions like long distance walking to sites.

  • Excellent spoken and written Local and English languages.

  • Good facilitation and mobilization skill.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • For extra ordinary/promising candidates, experience can be flexible.

PREFERRED

  • Experience in closely working with camp level is advantageous.

  • Previous experience working in CMAM is an asset.

  • Knowledge of local dialects (Cox’s Bazar region/ Rohingya dialect is an asset.).

Society for Health Extension and Development (SHED) a National NGO working in Cox's Bazar district is inviting applications from suitable candidates for its Programme title “Integrated Nutrition Interventions for Malnutrition Treatment and Prevention in Rohingya Camps & Host communities in Cox's Bazar”. The Programme is jointly funded by UNICEF & UNWFP. SHED is looking for qualified candidates for the post of:

Position: Homestead Gardening Supervisor

Department- Health and Nutrition

Assignment:

The Homestead Gardening Supervisor will lead community mobilization, build capacity of community members and nutrition volunteers, and coordinate with outreach teams on preventive nutrition interventions including homestead gardening. Responsibilities include supervising volunteers in beneficiary selection, ensuring fair coverage, overseeing agricultural input distribution, and promoting context-specific gardening methods. The role also strengthens household practices to support maternal and child nutrition (pregnant/lactating women and children under two), and includes any additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor/s.

Report to: Deputy Programme Manager (Nutritionist)

Supervise to: Volunteer who will assign by your under.

Job Location:

• At anywhere in Ukhiya & Teknaf Upazila (Camp area).

Duration: Till 31st December-2026 with a high possibility of extension by next year 2027.

Job purpose: The Homestead Gardening Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and proper running of the program through providing systematic and regular supportive supervision, monitoring and follow-up all homested gardening related activities at the field level through field Volunteers. S/He is expected to manage staff & volunteers at the nutrition site and ensure that programme components are implemented to a high level of quality. S/He will deputize Deputy Program Manager as assigned by Program Manager when required.

Job Descriptions / Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of Deputy Program Manager/Program Manager (Nutritionist) the Homestead Gardening Supervisor will be responsible for-

Objective 1: Project Implementation:

  • Coordinate with the CNS and NSN and guide the Community Nutrition Volunteers (CNVs) to select project beneficiaries with respect and impartiality and ensure the required coverage of the project areas.
  • Oversee the distribution of agricultural inputs and ensure home gardening by applying different context-specific methods in the project area.
  • Lead the development and adaptation of context-specific IEC materials for training and capacity building of project staff, volunteers, and beneficiaries.
  • Liaise with CNS and IYCF Counsellor for using the garden produce in preparing nutritious meals recipes ensuring maternal, infant and young child nutrition.
  • Build the capacity of CNVs to deliver quality messages on the importance of homestead gardening in ensuring optimal MIYCN practices.
  • Conduct on-the-job coaching to the CNVs in maintaining highest program quality and accountability to the beneficiaries.

Objective 2: Coordination:

  • Coordinate with CNS and NSN and ensure that the homestead gardening and preventive nutrition activities are embedded within the monthly nutrition mobilization plan to achieve expected program output.
  • Conduct community sensitization meetings with influential people to achieve the community’s trust and willingness to participate in the project.
  • Coordination with Govt. authority & other stakeholders for approval & smooth implementation of the project activities.
  • Liaise with other nutrition components, e.g. community outreach, IYCF Counsellor, CMAM Nurse, etc. to ensure that the activity objectives are achieved.

Objective 3: Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Participate in regular team meetings to discuss activity progress and learning.
  • Work with NSN to identify and address implementation bottlenecks.
  • Support MEAL team in data collection for surveys and evaluations.
  • Ensure that the feedback mechanism for accountability to staff and beneficiaries is operational in the project areas.
  • Actively promote meaningful community participation and consultation at all stages of the project cycle (planning, implementation, M&E);
  • Build a personal strategy of monitoring the homestead gardening activities.

Objective 4: Reporting:

  • Share daily/weekly/monthly field activities updates with the Deputy Program Manager/Nutrition Expert/MEAL.
  • Prepare activity reports, capture case studies and success stories, and take good pictures following compliance guidelines.
  • Analyze reports from Support Groups and other nutrition activities, to track progress and generate learning to inform program and advocacy actions and/or decisions.
  • Objective 5: Additional Roles:
  • Promote and ensure compliance with the requirements of SHED’s HR policies, SHED’s Code of Conduct and its associated policies and Core Humanitarian Standards of Accountability to ensure protection to programme beneficiaries.
  • S/he may support the INF activities during mission visits if needed.
  • Closely work with CNS and NSN.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Line Manager.

Objective 6: Ensure organizational policies and donor compliances are in place:

  • Orient team members on the Complaint Feedback Mechanism (CFM) and functional CFM at camp level following SoP
  • Be aware of, understand and comply with all of SHED's policies and procedures (P4, finance, logistics, HR, security management, PSEA, CoC, & Cross Cutting Issues etc.)
  • Work with relevant colleagues to ensure that the Complaints, Feedback and Response Mechanism (CFRM) is functional and accessible, and that feedback and complaints are welcomed and addressed.
  • Work with relevant colleagues to ensure that information about CFRM, safeguarding and expected staff behavior is disseminated among programme participants and communities.
  • Work in a manner that always protects confidentiality.

Besides the above-mentioned job activities, you must do any other job assigned by your supervisor & the organization as and when required.

    Salary Range:

    • Tk. 57,500.00 (Fifty-Seven Thousand and Five Hundred Taka only).
