Job Context:
∎ Gonoshasthaya Kendra(GK)) is one of key actors who are serving for the well-being of Rohingya refugees living in the camps in Cox`s Bazar who have access to health and nutrition services to ensure their improved health and nutrition status. GK is currently delivering services in eleven (11) camps through eleven (11) facilities. With the support of UNHCR, GK runs 24/7 service in various Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs), 24/7 Inpatient Department (IPD) service in Registered Camps, Health Posts (HPs), an outdoor patient consultation point in transit center, and one specialized physiotherapy center at Shamlapur for both Rohingya and host community. The Nutrition Educator will be responsible for conducting health education, messaging and counseling to caregivers and beneficiaries attending services for this UNHCR supported Integrated Health & Nutrition project.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The Health Educator will conduct health education at center level and will also follow-up field level activities of Health & Nutrition workers facilitate cooking demonstrations and sensitization sessions on health, hygiene and nutrition key messages as per guideline.
∎ S/he will facilitate the food demonstrations according to local recipes at community level and at center level.
∎ S/he will also help to identify needs for breastfeeding counseling and refer to IYCF counselor, provide daily, weekly & monthly reports on Health & Nutrition Educations, community screening, referral and so on.
∎ S/he will be responsible to develop and disseminate a range of health and nutrition messages including breastfeeding, hand washing, dietary diversity, ANC and PNC attendance, micro-nutrient supplementation among others geared at influencing adoption of appropriate behavior change around maternal infant and young child nutrition (MIYCN).
∎ S/he will work closely with the nutrition team to identify children who are not responding to the treatment as required and structure particular messages to address identified challenges with child feeding and ensuring that the caregivers are supported to ensure adequate care for their children.
∎ S/he will also support to roll out ECCD activities. She will be responsible to perform other activities requested by her supervisor based on project need.
∎ S/he will liaise with the Nutrition Site Supervisor-CMAM, Outreach Supervisor Nutrition Promoter prepare for and disseminate health education and counseling sessions at the site level on a range of topics around MIYCF and CMAM.
∎ S/he will contribute to the development of health and nutrition promotion messages to pass to the targeted community members including review of suitability of existing IEC materials within the response.
∎ S/he will identify caregivers requiring individual and or group counseling on particular topics and administering them to address identified challenges.
∎ S/he will conduct health, nutrition, hygiene and health education sessions for caregivers of beneficiaries attending OTP/TSFP and BSFP services
∎ S/he will conduct trainings to community volunteers on key nutrition/health/hygiene messaging, community screening for malnutrition, case identification and referral.
∎ S/he will assist volunteers and counselors in delivering messages on preparation of supplementary foods provided to beneficiaries at the sites.
∎ S/he will motivate caregivers to make healthy changes and adopt recommended health and nutrition practices including encouraging them to attend nutrition services within the nutrition sites.
∎ S/he will assist the community volunteers implementing promotional activities to document and plan activities on a monthly basis.
∎ S/he will enable a friendly collaborative working culture within the team, actively sharing information and knowledge to enable the team to ensure effective learning and sharing across the team.
∎ Special Note
∎ Carry out any additional assignment per her/his position entrusted with the GK Management from time to time and mutually agreed upon.
∎ Management may, at any point in time, modify this job description as it is deemed necessary in Gonoshasthaya Kendra’s interests in consultation with the incumbent
∎ Due to the emergency response nature of GK's work, hours of work may vary, and employees should be flexible in approaching hours of work in emergency conditions.
∎ The employee must respect the timetable, terms, and conditions of Gonoshasthaya Kendra and should always be available to respond to an emergency.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Around 1-2 years’ progressive experience in a similar/related activities. (For highly technical candidates, experience is considerable)
∎ Technical knowledge on CMAM, IYCF, MAMI and SBCC.
∎ Having good knowledge on Rohingya refugee programmes will add value.
∎ Demonstrate ability to think and manage strategically, plan and meet deadlines.
∎ Good command and fluency over Rohingya language/Chittagong dialect (Local Dialect).
∎ Pro- active with an ability to think analytically, identifying opportunities and mechanisms to broaden programming.
∎ Excellent planning and organizational skills.
∎ Ability to solve problem and good decision making and communication skills.
∎ Strong team player.
∎ Ability to work in challenging environments.
∎ Good knowledge on Nutrition and SBCC.
