Evince Group one of the leading conglomerates in the garments industry of Bangladesh, is looking for Head of Maintenance, Garments Division for our Mirpur office located at Dhaka. The incumbent must have initiative, experience and the drive to deliver high-quality results.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

The Head, Mechanical will play a critical role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing the performance of machinery in the Ready-Made Garment (RMG) factory. This position requires in-depth technical knowledge of complex machinery, with a focus on enhancing productivity and minimizing downtime. The ideal candidate will lead mechanical support efforts, implement preventative maintenance strategies, and work towards continuous improvement in machinery performance and efficiency.

Sewing, Finishing & Specialized Machinery Expertise

• Expert-level knowledge and troubleshooting of all types of sewing machines, including needle setup for different fabrics and threads, puckering solutions, needle marks/cuts, uneven stitches, shearing issues, folder adjustments, and attachments.

• Proficient in operation, advanced troubleshooting, and maintenance of specialized RMG machines such as Automatic Button Indexer, Full Automatic Pocket Setter, Accurate Buttonhole Alignment machines, molding machines, hot-seal machines, fusing machines, snap button machines, embroidery machines, and printing machines.

• Effective knowledge in developing line layouts (machinery, folders, attachments, needles, presser feet) for new styles in woven production.

Cutting, Spreading & Preparation Section

• Strong practical knowledge of cutting-section equipment: hand cutters, end cutters, auto cutters, auto spreaders, fusing machines, and spreading machines.

• Very good expertise in factory draping, drafting, sewing, and quality development.

Preventative Maintenance & Planning

• Develop, execute, and maintain yearly SOP-based maintenance schedules for sewing, utility, cutting, finishing, and all factory sections.

• Create and update yearly sewing & utility plans, including standby repair protocols.

• Plan and sustain an effective maintenance management system with full documentation aligned to factory and compliance standards.

• Identify and implement improvements to extend equipment life, reduce parts wear/tear, and minimize man-machine breakdowns.

Inventory, Spare Parts, Costing & Supplier Management

• Proficient in machine parts, folders, tools accounting, costing, and budgeting.

• Manage spare parts requisition, planning, and maintenance.

• Handle new machine suppliers, rental machine suppliers, and spare parts suppliers.

Technical Support, Inspection, Diagnosis & Repair

• Provide advanced technical support, operate machinery, troubleshoot, and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and automation-related issues across all production sections.

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical & electrical equipment (minor to major breakdowns) with prompt action to minimize production downtime.

• Strong ability to deliver permanent solutions and standby repair strategies for all machine types.

Utility, Electrical, Civil & Infrastructure Maintenance

• Preparation and maintenance of electrical, utility, and prop machine inventory with proper drawings.

• Good knowledge of factory electricity usage, power consumption optimization, AC systems, gas/jute boilers, air compressors, substations, CCTV, PA systems, and related troubleshooting/setup.

• Strong analytical capability to select, control, and manage third-party civil, workshop, and engineering works.

Process Optimization, Installation & Performance Monitoring

• Analyze and optimize workflows to achieve peak machine efficiency and maximum output.

• Lead installation, calibration, and performance monitoring of RMG-related machines to factory specifications.

• Collaborate with engineering, production, and management teams to integrate best practices and advanced mechanical technologies.

Training, Compliance, Audit & Continuous Improvement

• Skilled self-trainer: prepare and maintain technical training schedules for all sections and support staff in utilizing advanced machinery.

• Promote continuous improvement in equipment reliability, machine capabilities, and overall productivity.

• Excellent knowledge in buyer technical audits, documentation, and maintenance for audit purposes.

• Strong command of RSC, Accord, Alliance fire & safety compliance, documentation, self-compliance training, and audit issue resolution.

• Develop strategies to reduce manpower dependency, machine breakdowns, and equipment wear.

Reporting, Analysis & Management Collaboration

• Regularly report on machine performance, identify trends, and recommend improvement areas.

• Work closely with managers, production staff, and third parties to achieve optimal production levels using advanced technology.

• Provide technical insights, training, and support to enhance team operational efficiency.
