Responsibilities & Context:

Position: GIS Technologist – LiDAR & Geospatial Data Processing

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and manage LiDAR point-cloud and other geospatial datasets.
  • Perform manual and semi-automated feature extraction from LiDAR and imagery.
  • Extract features such as utility poles, wires/conductors, crossarms, attachments, guy wires, roads, curbs, buildings, vegetation, and other project-specific assets.
  • Classify LiDAR point clouds according to project specifications and classification standards.
  • Perform quality control (QC) and quality assurance checks on extracted and classified data.
  • Identify and correct missing features, incorrect classifications, geometry errors, attribution errors, and other data-quality issues.
  • Digitize, edit, and maintain GIS vector datasets using ArcGIS Pro and other geospatial software.
  • Review LiDAR point clouds, imagery, and GIS layers to ensure positional and attribute accuracy.
  • Maintain project geodatabases, shapefiles, and other spatial datasets while ensuring data integrity.
  • Follow client specifications, extraction guidelines, naming conventions, and established production workflows.
  • Track production progress and report data issues or uncertainties to team leads.
  • Collaborate with GIS analysts, QC staff, and project managers to meet project quality and delivery requirements.
  • Use tools such as ArcGIS Pro, TerraScan/Terrasolid, CloudCompare, Global Mapper, or similar LiDAR/GIS software as required.
  • Assist with workflow automation and data-processing tools where applicable.

Working Schedule

The position requires six (6) working days per week, from Saturday through Thursday.

Friday will be the regular weekly day off.
