Education: - Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Geography
- The ideal candidate will have a university degree in Geography, Geomatics or Geographical Information Systems, or other closely related fields (e.g. Remote Sensing). Alternatively, candidates with degrees from other technical fields (civil engineering, computer science, architecture, maths, etc.), combined with strong experience, will be considered.

Previous experience with MSF or other INGOs - desirable.

Professional level GIS Skills acquired through experience or education
Advanced Computer literacy – can comfortably operate a computer and learns new software fast.
Quantitative data analysis – most of the spatial analysis is quantitative by nature and thus strong skills in basic math and statistics will be required.
The role requires collaboration with several projects and will need strong interpersonal skills.
Proactivity and ability to work independently are essential for this post.
Quick learning ability and positive attitude to self-learning.
Language:
Knowledge:
Demonstrated knowledge of Cartography and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) – essential
Hands-on knowledge of Desktop GIS Software (ArcGIS Pro) – essential.
Experience with dynamic GIS tools (ArcGIS Online) – desirable.
Mobile Data Collection App (KoBo Toolbox, Esri Field Maps) – desirable.
Responsibilities & Context: Accountabilities:
- Ensuring the implementation, monitoring, maintenance, and correct functioning of geographical information system.
- Liaising directly with sector responsible to identify GIS needs and developing appropriate GIS products.
- Identify support opportunities and priories requests for GIS products and services in close collaboration with the supported sector responsible.
- Managing the development, quality control and reproduction of products in appropriate formats for users. Using and advocating for GIS standards.
- Ensuring the quality and sharing of the geographic data produced in their area of work to best contribute to the global MSF GIS Master Data Base.
- Support line manager in acquiring necessary authorization for data creation and acquisition at country level and/or local level when needed.
- Maintaining and expanding project GIS database for use in GIS and to create analytical products.
- Carrying out assessment and feasibility studies in their area of responsibility, to provide line managers with alternatives and possible solutions to challenges concerning GIS.
- Promoting GIS on Offer and providing training to staff with simple GIS tools.
- Participating in monthly reports according to guidelines.
- Performing delegated tasks as defined in their job description and according to the line manager.
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities:
- Hep C Outreach planning: The GIS Specialist will ensure the documents for field planning for HepC Screening has been updated (dates and completed sub-blocks) and if not, inform respective coordinators.
- Data collection: The GIS specialist will ensure spatial data is correctly recorded as per each section’s requirement.
- Data cleaning: The GIS specialist will actively follow-up with the data quality issues relating to spatial records, as highlighted by the automated error reports;
- Reporting: The GIS speciailist will monitor daily that the dashboard has been updated succesfully.
- Troubleshooting and problem solving: If there are issues in any of the above-metioned stages, the GIS Specialist will actitely trobleshoot, solve – and if needed – alert the respective support staff from the GIS Centre.
- Project Management: The GIS Specialist will attend the weekly HepC Coordination meeting, ensuring he/she is adequately informed of the overall project progress, promote the use of the dashboard, and offer support for further analysis and mapping (static maps etc.). Furthermore, the GIS Specialist will conduct regular visits to all HepC projects to understand the changing ground realities.

Temporary Contract.
Salary according to level Eight (8) of the internal MSF salary grid (BDT 95000). Salary is not negotiable. Income tax deduction from salary based on current income tax compliances.
