About the Position
The Netherlands Recreation Centre – Dutch Club Dhaka is seeking an experienced, committed, and proactive General Manager to lead the Club’s day-to-day operations and further develop its services, facilities, staff and member experience.
The successful candidate will be a strong and inspiring leader with excellent decision-making, problem-solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
The General Manager will be responsible for leading and coordinating the Club’s various departments, maintaining high service standards, developing staff, ensuring fair and professional treatment of employees, and creating a welcoming and well-managed environment for members and guests.
Key Responsibilities
Financial, Asset Management & Membership
Manage and oversee the club’s movable and immovable assets, maintain the inventory, and keep the premises in good order through maintenance planning and ad hoc maintenance where required.
Manage the guesthouse in terms of bookings, guest registration, payments, etc.
Oversee members’ administration in coordination with the club’s Board Secretary.
Manage and ensure accurate financial accounts, cash management, regular spot checks, and up-to-date stock records, in coordination with the Treasurer and Maintenance Board members.
Maintain asset records and ensure proper maintenance of buildings, facilities, and equipment.
Support the annual audit and ensure the implementation of the auditor’s recommendations.
Support the Internal Audit Committee in carrying out its work.
Manage membership applications and terminations in accordance with the Articles of Association, By-Laws, and applicable Club policies, including submitting matters to the Board for approval where required.
Ensure that the membership database is accurate, current, and treated as highly confidential.
Respond professionally and promptly to questions, requests, and concerns raised by members and guests.
Procurement Management
Propose, procure, and maintain various service contracts in coordination with the Board Treasurer and the Maintenance members.
Together with the Procurement Officer, carry out the necessary procurement, including regular air and sea freight orders, as agreed by the Board.
Oversee the procurement process and ensure the procedures are followed correctly.
Staff Management
Participate in the recruitment, selection, engagement, and termination of staff as and when required.
Seek and explore professional-development opportunities for staff.
Actively seek feedback on the performance of staff members.
Conduct yearly performance evaluations of direct reports, in conjunction with the relevant Board members.
Encourage and motivate staff through regular staff meetings.
Set monthly objectives for staff and ensure all staff have accurate, up-to-date job descriptions.
Ensure monthly rosters are in place for all staff, providing good service to members while remaining mindful of staff wellbeing and leave requirements.
Ensure all staff are trained and have signed off on the code of conduct.
Hospitality, Sports & Events
Organise and maintain high standards in catering.
Ensure high hygiene standards throughout the Dutch Club.
Seek and respond to feedback from members and guesthouse guests.
In coordination with the Sports & Events Board member, other Board members, and club committees, organise sport and other events for the entertainment of members and the betterment of the club.
Introduce innovative ideas for improving the quality of services provided by the Dutch Club.
Engagement with the Board
In line with their respective areas of expertise and the club’s policies, seek approval and arrange regular updates with Board members.
Provide a monthly report to the club Board on daily affairs, presented during the Board meeting.
