Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Apparel Manufacturing, Fashion Design, Industrial Engineering, or a any related discipline.
Minimum 15–20 years of experience in the garments industry.
At least 5 years in a senior leadership role (DGM/GM/Head of Technical).
Extensive experience in Woven Garments, Pattern Engineering, and CAD Operations.
Strong experience working with internationally reputed buyers and brands.
Strong expertise in woven garment construction, garment engineering, and technical specifications.
Hands-on knowledge of pattern making, grading, marker planning, and fabric consumption optimization.
Excellent knowledge of garment fitting, size grading, and production engineering.
Excellent leadership, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Job Context
We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and result-driven General Manager – Technical to lead the Technical, Pattern, CAD, Sample departments of our woven garments manufacturing operation. The incumbent will be responsible for managing all technical aspects of product development, pattern engineering, CAD operations, garment fitting, and production readiness while ensuring compliance with buyer specifications, quality standards, and cost optimization.
Job Responsibilities
Technical Management
Lead and oversee the Technical, Pattern, and CAD departments to ensure efficient workflow and timely execution.
Review buyers' Tech Packs, construction details, measurement charts, and technical specifications.
Ensure technical feasibility of styles before sample development and bulk production.
Conduct technical risk assessments and recommend preventive actions.
Lead Pre-Production (PP) meetings and provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams.
Coordinate closely with Merchandising, Sample, Production, IE, Quality, Planning, Washing, and Compliance teams.
Resolve technical issues related to garment construction, sewing methods, fit, and production processes.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives for quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
Develop and implement SOPs, technical standards, and best practices across departments.
Pattern Development
Supervise pattern development for all woven garments from buyer specifications.
Ensure accurate pattern making, grading, and marker planning.
Verify pattern measurements, garment balance, and construction before sample approval.
Review pattern corrections based on buyer comments and fit sessions.
Ensure all approved patterns are production-ready and properly archived.
Monitor pattern consumption and optimize fabric utilization.
CAD Operations
Oversee all CAD activities including marker making, grading, pattern digitizing, and nesting.
Ensure optimum marker efficiency and fabric consumption.
Improve marker planning to reduce wastage and increase cost efficiency.
Manage CAD software operations and maintain data accuracy.
Coordinate with the Planning and Cutting departments for marker execution.
Fit & Sample Management
Lead fit sessions and analyze fitting comments.
Ensure timely development of Proto, Fit, Size Set, PP, TOP, and Shipment Samples.
Approve technical corrections before buyer submission.
Ensure all samples meet buyer quality and technical requirements.
Production Support
Provide technical support during pilot run and bulk production.
Analyze production issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Minimize quality defects related to pattern, measurement, and garment construction.
Ensure smooth technical handover from development to production.
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop Technical, Pattern, and CAD teams.
Evaluate team performance and identify training needs.
Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Reporting & Compliance
Prepare departmental KPIs, technical reports, and management presentations.
Ensure compliance with buyer standards, factory SOPs, and international quality requirements.
Participate in buyer meetings, technical audits, and factory visits.
