Responsibilities & Context:

Job Context

General Manager Internal audit is responsible for performing audits independently including defining of scope and audit program, fieldwork, report writing and closure with the respective functional heads. Incumbent should have the capability of Technology and general business domain e.g. Commercial, Customer service, Compliance etc. Also, should possess the competency to evaluate that the Organizational policies, business processes and practices are designed, implemented and operating effectively to enable achieving organizations operational, strategic objectives, prevention of loss, safeguarding assets and enhancing regulators and shareholders confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

Annual Audit Planning & Responsibilities

  • Assist with yearly Internal Audit Plan formulation and providing insights to ensure compliance with regulations and company needs

  • Help create and maintain `Functional Risk Bucket` for technology and general business domains

  • Assess procedural, regulatory, and operational risks to prioritize audit subjects for the yearly Internal Audit plan

    Audit Execution and Supervision Responsibilities

  • Assist in identifying `Key Focus Areas` relevant to the technology and general business processes to be audited. Ensure that high-value functions, substantial risks, and the efficacy of their risk management and control systems have been audited.

  • Assist in setting audit objectives to ensure that all assessments done throughout an audit accomplish the established aim, such as assurance on risk management, controls, governance, or specific high-risk concerns.

  • Define the audit scope independently, stating the important processes, activities, or systems that will be reviewed for critical risks and key controls in accordance with the audit objectives.

  • Creating an audit work program that includes the stated scope and relevant sub-processes, as well as particular test plans and documents/information to be collected for audit proof.

  • Determine and organize the necessary logistics and other assistance, including travel plans, as necessary.

  •   Prepare a draft letter of notice (LoN) for supervisor approval, outlining audit timelines, primary requirements, preliminary study materials, and resource allocation.

  • Conduct an audit entry meeting to define scope, scheduling, and support requirements.

  • Conducting process understanding/walkthrough sessions to identify embedded controls and unattended risks (if any).

  • Prepare and transmit document requisitions to recipients, with follow-up to assure timely availability.

  • Assign audit tests to team members and follow the test strategy.

  • Supervise audit team members and monitor work to prevent backlogs and guarantee timely completion of audits.

  • Assist the team members in addressing challenges and serving as the primary point of contact with the supervisor.

  • Conduct a review of team members` tests and audit evidence to verify accurate conclusions.

  •   Analyze and evaluate audit evidence to determine whether further evidence is required to support conclusions and engagement results.

  • Validate audit observations against test findings, determining causes, impact on auditee function, and potential corrective measures.

  • Draft audit observations may indicate a serious or high residual risk due to unmet standards or control tests.

  • Collaborate with Audit lead to review and resolve issues for the audit team. Ensure that the evidence gathered is factual, trustworthy, adequate, and relevant to support audit findings, conclusions, and recommendations. 

Reporting Responsibilities

  • Sharing audit findings and obtaining explanations, supporting documentation, and a first response from the auditee. Review and modify audit findings in light of the auditee`s explanation and supplementary documentation.

  •   Discuss and defend the rationale for audit observations, including any appropriate explanations and proof.

  • Share the report`s first draft with the auditee to ensure alignment and minimize surprises.

  • Hold an audit departure meeting with the auditee to agree on the observations and subsequent action plans.

 Audit Quality Assurance Responsibilities

  • Conduct an evaluation of the sufficiency and appropriateness of audit evidence throughout several stages of the process, including planning, risk assessment, information acquired, conclusions reached, outcomes communication, and follow-up.

  • Ensure that quality work papers are gathered and preserved in accordance with the `working document management method` and retrieved as needed by the quality reviewer, Bangladesh Bank, or any other authorized stakeholder.

  • Ensure the professional and personal development in line with changing business need and organizational requirement.

  • Stay updated regarding regulatory changes/communications and assist supervisor in implementing those changes to promote good governance, risk management and controls across the business.
