Skills and Competencies

  • Prior experience in GBV case management and providing psychosocial support, preferably in refugee or conflict-affected settings.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, cultural sensitivity, ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality, and the ability to work under pressure.

  • Excellent facilitation along with training facilitation and inter-personal skills.

  • Has expertise and experience in adherence to  GBV Case Management Guidelines.

  • Familiar with humanitarian programming.

  • Have good ideas and relations with district-level organizations/ fast line responders working in emergencies.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Computer skills on MS word, Excel, Power Point, Develop short and long-term program strategies and budgets under the priority.

Languages

  • Fluency in Bangla required.

  • Knowledge of the Rohingya/Chittagonian dialect is highly desirable.



Responsibilities & Context:

Job Context:

Nari Maitree (NM), a well-established women-led national NGO with over 42 years of experience promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment in Bangladesh, is implementing the project “Together We Lead: Placing Gender Equality at the Centre” in partnership with UN Women.

The project aims to promote transformative gender norms and strengthen leadership, agency, and resilience among forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals (Rohingya) and host communities in Cox’s Bazar.

The Officer - GBV Case Management & PSS will be responsible for providing case management services and psychosocial support to survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) within Rohingya refugee communities. This position entails direct support to vulnerable individuals, especially women and girls, ensuring their safety, recovery, and access to essential services. The officer will also work to strengthen the overall capacity of the community, fostering resilience and coping mechanisms through targeted psychosocial interventions. Key responsibilities include identifying GBV cases, assessing survivors' needs, developing individual action plans, and providing tailored services such as counseling, referrals to health and legal services, and emotional support. Additionally, the officer will collaborate with other NGOs, community leaders, and service providers to coordinate effective care pathways and ensure culturally appropriate responses.

Reports to: Protection Manager/ Case Management & GBVIMS Supervisor
Duty Station: Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar
Contract Duration: Approx. 9 months

Key Responsibilities

Case Management:

  •  Identify and manage cases of GBV, focusing on survivors' safety, confidentiality, and dignity.

  • Conduct individual assessments and develop comprehensive care plans, including referrals to appropriate services (healthcare, legal aid, shelter).

  • Maintain up-to-date case files and documentation following data protection protocols.

 

Psychosocial Support:

  • Provide one-on-one counseling and emotional support to survivors of GBV.

  • Facilitate group-based psychosocial interventions to foster resilience and community support.

  • Support the development of peer support networks for women and girls within the community.

 

Capacity Building:

  • Conduct training for local community workers, volunteers, and other stakeholders on GBV prevention and response.

  • Support awareness-raising campaigns on GBV, women’s rights, and available services within the Rohingya refugee community.

 

Coordination & Advocacy:

  • Collaborate with local and international NGOs, UN agencies, and service providers to ensure a coordinated approach to GBV case management.

  • Advocate for improved services and policy changes to address GBV in refugee settings.

 

Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Ensure accurate data collection and reporting on GBV case management activities.

  • Monitor the impact of psychosocial support interventions and adjust strategies as needed.
