Responsibilities & Context:

Concern Deparment: Administrative

Level of the Job: Mid Level

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure smooth daily operation of hospital canteen and patient meal services

  2. Coordinate preparation and timely distribution of meals to patients, staff, and visitors

  3. Supervise food serving, portion control, and service quality

  4. Monitor meal delivery to wards as per schedule and patient requirements

  5. Work closely with doctors and nutritionists to ensure diet compliance for patients

  6. Maintain records of special diets (diabetic, low-salt, liquid, etc.)

  7. Ensure correct meal is served to the right patient at the right time

  8. Ensure strict compliance with hospital hygiene and food safety standards

  9. Monitor cleanliness of kitchen, dining, and food storage areas

  10. Check food quality, temperature, and expiry regularly

  11. Implement infection control and sanitation protocols

  12. Supervise cooks, kitchen helpers, waiters, and cleaners

  13. Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate manpower coverage

  14. Train staff on hygiene, service standards, and hospital SOPs

  15. Maintain discipline and performance of F&B team

  16. Monitor stock levels of food items, beverages, and kitchen supplies

  17. Ensure proper storage (FIFO method) and minimize wastage

  18. Coordinate with procurement for timely purchase of supplies

  19. Maintain inventory records and reports

  20. Assist in budget control and cost management of food services

  21. Maintain daily consumption and expense reports

  22. Ensure cost-effective utilization of resources

  23. Coordinate with hospital departments (nursing, admin, housekeeping)

  24. Ensure smooth communication between kitchen and wards

  25. Support hospital events, meetings, and special catering services

  26. Ensure uninterrupted food service during emergencies (e.g., night shifts, disasters)

  27. Be available for rotational duty, including weekends and holidays

  28. Any other task assigned by authority.
