The following position is basically required for end-to-end fabric requirement planning, coordinating with merchandising, sourcing, and production teams to ensure timely fabric availability. The role focuses on accurate fabric consumption, efficient utilization, cost control, and ensuring on-time order execution in a fast-paced Bangladesh RMG environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fabric Requirement & Planning
Analyze buyer tech packs, BOM, and order projections to prepare detailed fabric requirement plans.
Calculate fabric consumption (including shrinkage, GSM, wastage, marker efficiency, etc.) for bulk orders.
Develop fabric allocation plans based on order priority, production line capacity, and delivery schedules.
Prepare T&A (Time & Action) plans related to fabric sourcing and ensure execution.
2. Coordination with Merchandising & Sourcing
Work closely with merchandisers to confirm fabric quality, color standards, width, and order quantity.
Liaise with fabric mills, dyeing/finishing units, and trim suppliers to track development and bulk production.
Follow up with suppliers on lead times, LC/PI issues, testing approvals, and shipment dates.
3. Monitoring Fabric Production & Delivery
Track fabric knitting, dyeing, finishing, and inspection status daily.
Ensure fabric is delivered to the cutting in the correct quality, shade, and timeline.
Address delays or quality concerns by escalating to sourcing or quality teams.
Maintain a buffer plan to handle shortages, shade variations, and production rejections.
4. Inventory & Data Management
Maintain real-time fabric inventory reports for greige, dyed, and finished fabric.
Ensure accurate documentation in ERP systems.
Monitor fabric utilization and generate reports on overconsumption and wastage.
Support stock reconciliation with the store and procurement departments.
5. Quality & Compliance
Ensure fabric meets buyer quality standards, including GSM, shade, colorfastness, and hand-feel.
Coordinate for lab dips, bulk approvals, and test reports (e.g., Intertek, SGS, BV).
Maintain compliance with RMG industry standards and internal SOPs.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with production, planning (PPC), QA, and cutting teams to ensure smooth workflow.
Support management in decision-making regarding fabric booking, risk assessment, and costing.
Participate in pre-production meetings (PPM) for new orders.
