To bring to the notice of the management of the factory the grievance of workers, individuals as well as collective, with a view to securing their expeditious redress.
To study and understand the point of view of the workers and to help the management and the workers to resolve their differences in the spirit of understanding and cooperation.
To watch industrial relations with a view to using his/her influence in the event of a dispute arising between the management and workers, and to help bring about a settlement through mutual discussion and joint consultations.
To deal with wages and employment matters by joint consultation with the management and the workers’ representative body.
To promote healthy labor management practices.
To keep coordination with the medical officer of the factory for better services and treatment of workers.
To encourage the formation of work committees and joint production committees, co-operative societies and welfare committees, and to supervise their work.
To look after the provision of amenities, such as dining, adequate and clean latrine facilities, drinking water, and the like;
To help the management in regulating the grant of leave with wages and explain to workers the provisions relating to leave with wages and leave privileges, and to guide the workers in matters of submission of applications for the grant of leave and for regulating authorized absence.
To suggest procedures for female workers to avail maternity leave, and how to get the maternity benefits, and to keep track of workers on Maternity leave, and to check out the reasons if workers do not join after availing maternity leave, and also to check out the well-being of workers who plan to avail maternity leave.
To suggest measures that will serve to raise the working and living conditions of the workers and promote their general well-being.
To advise and brief workers on the use of PPE, Machine guarding, Sanitation, OSHA, Fire Safety, etc.
To work as advised by the Factory management.
