Job Context:

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Our Ideal Candidate
∎ The role of the Education assistant is to assist in the implementation of youth education activities, support the learning process, conduct field outreach with the community, and monitor day-to-day implementation and coordination with the Youth Officers.
∎ Key Task and Responsibilities
∎ Under the supervision of the Education Project Officer/Coordinator, facilitate awareness-raising, sensitization, orientation, and assistance activities in accordance with the standard operating procedures, guidelines, and instructions.
∎ Implement the programme in the assigned location; she/he is directly responsible for the quality and timely implementation of all planned activities and achievement of the targets set; she/he has the obligation to timely flag potential challenges and risks and request support.
∎ Create a safe classroom/ learning center environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social, and emotional development of children and youth both inside and outside the center
∎ Provides direction, assigns tasks, and gives instructions to daily workers (e.g. volunteers, trainers) and evaluates individual performance.
∎ Ensures compliance with NRC SOPs and guidelines.
∎ Take part in mobilization and conducting of needs assessments, studies, and research using focus group discussions, interviews, and questionnaires.
∎ Conducts outreach activities within the camps and serves as a link between NRC programs and the local community.
∎ Contribute to the preparation of relevant documents and material.
∎ Establish excellent relations with beneficiaries and key stakeholders including understanding the needs of beneficiaries through regular visits and frequent contact.
∎ Supports training and workshop programs to contribute to sector-wide educational improvements and curricular activities.
∎ Ensure capacity building and improvement of the teaching-learning process through regular observation and feedback, training, and workshops.
∎ Perform any other task as requested by management.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 1 year's experience working as an education assistant or similar.
∎ Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts, preferably in Cox's Bazar.
∎ Good knowledge of the refugee context in Bangladesh
∎ Professional fluency in the Bangla language (ability to communicate in Chittagonian dialect)
∎ Knowledge of Burmese language is an asset
∎ Experience working in a non-profit organization
∎ Knowledge of the software programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

∎ Business : An estimated 905,000 Rohingya refugees currently reside in Cox`s Bazar, Bangladesh, over 700,000 of whom fled extreme violence in Myanmar in late 2017. They reside in refugee camps, which are among the most congested camps in the world, with limited access to basic services, including adequate sanitation, healthcare, livelihoods and education.
The refugees have put an immense strain on the Bangladeshi`s living in Cox`s Bazar, however, despite the challenges, the Bangladeshi communities were the first to respond when the Rohingya arrived and generously continue to host the refugees, and many of the local communities are now also in need of support.
NRC has been present in Bangladesh since 2016, working through partnerships with local NGO`s. We have since scaled up our presence in Bangladesh, obtaining legal registration in November 2018, allowing us to better respond to the Rohingya influx. Alongside our partners, we provide assistance to refugees and local communities through Education programming and Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) activities.
